How much worth Ellis Cap from Team Fortress 2?

So the first thing is that I don't play Team Fortress 2, and like to know how much worth Ellis Cap? and what can mad fans give to it? =D and how you can obtain it, having Rome Total War maybe they give you this hat too or how?

For what usefull it's possible to trade it? for a non TF2 player?

I gave mine away for free to some random stranger that asked for it, but i don't play TF2, so i guess that doesn't mean anything..

You get that thing if you buy Left 4 Dead 2.

I didn't think the Ellis Cap had any real worth. I always had the impression that it was one of those items that is very common and hardly anyone cares about.
