Yup, almost all the games released since a few years ago have a goty version, and knowing bethesda the non goty version will be dirt cheap and the dlcs will never go more than 50% on sale , while the goty will be 75% or even more, just look at dishonored, fallout new vegas and skyrim, im still missing 1 dlc for skyrim and dishonored but i wont buy them at 50% on sale , just because they want me to force to buy the goty, so they can say the have sold more copies :P

But it after release+patches or at GOTY. Bethesda games tend to be good after numerous patches (usually half-broken at first days) and their DLC pricing is also terrible :\

If you wish that the gaming industry keeps screwing over gamers with pre-orders and such crap, yeah, totally.
Otherwise, don't. Save money, be patient, spare yourself some nerves if the game sucks at release, save some money, watch reviews before buying, choose to use your customer-rights and the intelligence you've been given instead of being a sheep that eats up everything AAA companies spit out even before it's released. The game won't run away, nor will it get worse after launch...

Nothing is worth pre-ordering.
Even if a dev has the best intentions a release could be buggy and take months to finally fix. Why pay top-dollar for something that hasn't proven it's quality yet?
Plus, the suits have to be reminded that people won't take all their shit unseen anymore.

I know I've already said it, but I'll say it again.
Never pre-order.

First of all, because you have no reason to do so. Sometimes, you'll get a few bonus contents, which usually aren't even worth the trouble.
Second, pre-ordering means purchasing a product which you have no solid proof that will satisfy your expectations. The game might be broken, bad, or simply disappointing.

Pre-ordering physical copies of a game might be understandable; after all, you don't want your local store/retailer to run out of copies before you get to it. However, with the internet nowadays, pre-ordering is really unnecessary. You'll get your copy by mail, and you have a wide array of retailers to purchase from, which probably never will run out of copies.

When it comes to digital purchases, just wait until the game is released. Check out a few reviews from players, to get an opinion you can trust, not from some gaming news or reviews website or something.
Yes, the game you want is going to be great and you know it. Yes, you trust the company which releases it and you know it won't be broken. Yes, you have the money to afford pre-ordering. But then, why pre-order? For the bonus pre-order content? Is it worth the risk of purchasing something you might regret later on?

There's that saying, "don't sell the bear's fur before killing it". And in my opinion, neither should you buy it.

Random rant for the day; Check.

And if you have to pre-order digital, do it on Steam. Then you can wait for day1 reviews and worst case, refund purchase.
Remember, even if you pre-order now, you can refund up to 14 days after game is released, as long as you didn't played 2 hours.

That's enough time to decide if pre-order bonuses are worth keeping it.

With pre-orders, you have 14 days after game is released.
So, it's like you'd buy at release day.

everytime there is a pre-order thread your comment is so spot on that i normally don't comment. This time i just want to add that bethesda has a reputation of shipping bugged releases, for that reason alone gamers should wait for release day to see if the game has no game-breaking bugs

Buy at release when you know it'll be good. Remember releases of games like Batman: Arkham Knight and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

If you read the ticket (or FAQ on refunding for that matter) it says it can take up to 7 days for you to get your refund.

No that's 7 days after it's been confirmed. You get 2 emails. One confirming they're in receipt of your refund request, and another telling you if you've been successful or not. I received the first email, but not the second one. When I do (which I will do as it's a pre-order or if not then I will initiate legal proceedings) if I wanted the funds to be sent back to my credit card, it would take another 7 days. So so far it's taken 10 days to get my refund back.

Huh. I've done two separate refunds so far, got one email for both saying they got my request, then another saying they were accepted. I believe I got the refunds the third day or so. Wonder why it's taking so long for you :s

They refunded my Batman Arkham Knight Premium Edition in less than two hours (from the initial email to the second). The funds took around 3 days to reach my bank account, but for the Fallout 4 refund I've asked to be refunded via Steam Wallet which should be instantaneous. Why it's taking so long to send the confirmation email I have no idea apart from what I earlier mentioned.

I trust Bethesda even tho some of their games are not very well optimized and have many bugs but Fallout is still an awesome franchise and I'd like to play it the moment when it's released so yeah I suggest you to pre-order it, I see no reason to wait if you like Fallout :).

Preordering games is an outdated concept that shouldn't exist anymore. At least digitally.

That said, I'd preorder it for a friend that is a big fan of Fallout games as a present, but I have no money at all right now.

Sigh... haven't you learnt anything by now? Geez! FFS, see what happened with ACU, MKX, BAK... big million dollar companies did that, not some fresh-indie-startups, actually, those have done some pretty amazing titles!

No, DO NOT preorder, not even because now you have refund, tho you're still buying without knowing...
Do you go to store and buy groceries and other stuff without looking them? I don't necessarily mean trying them, but def not blindfolded.

Francis/Boogey man (sorry, IDK which alias he's more recognized from) says that he used to not recommend preordering, but with BAK fiasco and the glorious recent refund capability, WB/R lost MORE money with preordering then refunds than if consumers actually wouldn't preordered in the first place, so, in his words "preorder away"

I'm hyped for Mad Max, same guys whom launched BAK, and ofc FO4, but honestly I can't think of a reason why not to wait and see if it's worthy or not, I mean it's not like they done a 75 off for preordering it, or a butload of useful crap you wont/cant get afterwars, so, yeah, check the voting, looks like ppl are finally waking up and seizing rightful control, less I'm your bitch & shut up and take my money and more like if you did a good job you will get sales kinda thing. Thank you for reading :D

"looks like ppl are finally waking up and seizing rightful control" - no, they are not. You're on SteamGifts, site where gamers come, which means people who hate preorders.
Normal people, ones who aren't "big gamers" will preorder like usual.

I think at this point nothing is worth pre-ordering, you saw what happened to Arkham Knight, AC Unity... Just wait until the release and get the game, even if it means spending few bucks more, better safe than sorry.
