Riiight. Cause popular opinion is always the one that is most informed and reliable?

In addition, it's a matter of taste and preferences, on a huge part.

What is there to be informed about? These people obviously enjoyed the game. Is their experience meaningless because you or the OP have a different opinion?

This isn't science, and it's not about facts. Games are designed to entertain(at least most of them) and as such their worth is determined by how well they can do that. If people enjoy the game, it has succeeded in its job. There is no "objectively good" game.

7 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

+1 A lot of people tend to forget that and think that a game is either good or bad. They tend to "forget" that different people have different opinions.

7 years ago
Permalink

Any game that isn't riddled with gamebreaking bugs is "objectively good". Now the question is only how many people enjoy the game.

Game is usually classified according to three categories:

  1. Small birds, such as the thrush and quail;
  2. Game proper, a category that can be subdivided into
    2a. Winged game, such as the goose, duck, woodcock, grouse or partridge, and pheasant;
    2b. Ground game, such as the squirrel, hare, and rabbit;
  3. Big game, predominantly venison, including roebuck, deer, elk, moose, and caribou but also including other large animals such as bear and wild boar.

So, you are good, but game? Not so sure... ;)

The stats reflect that most people enjoy the game, and that would make it a "good" game.

There is no objective good or bad in any thing, however...
That popular opinion is, in fact, what decides if a thing is good or bad. It's the opinion that the majority of people agree with.
The same applies to morality, society standards, laws to some extent, and other stuff.

Then again, this is only a subjective, wrong from many points of view, opinion. :P

It looks like a worse version of Minecraft, if it was even possible to see something worse than Minecraft.
Fun fact: Somebody gave it to me for free in the past and I declined it, because I said it was too bad to even have it in my library.

i never understood why people compare it to minecraft. i mean yes in both games you have blocks you can place but thats about it. teraria is more of an adventure/action/fighting game than a build whatever you want game. it focuses more on the fighting aspect than creative one. both games came out at the same time (so you cant say its a clone or anything) and in my oppinion terraria is much MUCH more fleshed out than minecraft. it just has much more to offer than minecraft. I would like to know why you think its worse than minecraft and conssider it too shit to play for free

Look, I think that both Minecraft and Terraria are bad games, but Terraria looks even worse, because it's a 2d version of it and you have less things to do in it. But, as I said before, I wouldn't play any of these 2 games. :P I've seen gameplay videos of them though. And don't get me wrong, but I say that about most games that make you aimlessly wander, have no storyline at all, and don't require to use your brain at all.

ok I see where you are coming from. I can fully understand your oppinion. I actually enjoy the 2D graphic because it was well done and there actually are more things to do than in minecraft lol. You got many more things to craft, more bosses to defeat, after you finished it you unlock hardmode which has even more ores/craftings/bosses etc. I agree they are both really boring alone but playing them with a couple of friends can be really fun.

well about minecraft I'm pretty sure I can show you some decent aspects
I used to play with my friends, we kinda build a town ingame, with houses and buildings.
I dont have alot of screenshot's to show you
but I remember I took some of the house I build with some friends help.

I think you need some objective first, then you play it to achieve it.
shame that I do not have any ss from the town we made
that experience certainly changed my opinion about the game.

it aint just for the kids.

To be fair, you're right, consuming every piece of media in order to be able to say you are not interested in it is excessive. But I still believe that you can't say something is bad (or worse than x) if you haven't tried it yet.

Later bosses in the game definitely require skill (or a good knowledge of how to use / alter the environment to your advantage).

Try playing getting to Hard Mode (the real game starts here. Sort of like in Borderlands where you have to play 10 hours to beat the game first, then you can have a real challenge), then try playing on expert. Its not that easy.

I rather play Terraria, build houses, get NPCs, upgrades, fight various bosses than to run around in a dark arena shooting stuff at various shit-coloured blobs for more points.

He probably idled the game with a buggy idler or left it minimized while abroad. I've seen the former, and done the latter.

Last week I saw someone who "played" Refunct (a 30 minutes games) for 350 hours. Well, at least he managed to get 1 out of 4 achievements in this period.
