I have a lot of old keys (2014-2015 most of them), and some/many of them have been revoked by the developers (or maybe cracked?). Sometimes (I'm not perfect) activated by myself without keeping a good track of them.

It's shameful having to ask the staff for the key to be deleted, but it sucks when the winners aren't understanding of the situation and do not cooperate to delete the giveaway.

I've read somewhere that the rules of SG are not exactly in my favour: that I am required to provide for a working key nonetheless if the winner demands it (and I'm not willing to pay retail price to cover a non-working bundle key).

But I've also read that when giving the key in a group, group rules override the default rules (and I can explicitly rule that winners of non-working keys must allow the giveaway to be deleted). And people suggest to create such a group.

I'd like to keep sharing my old duplicate keys, and maybe raise the SG level.

So the question is, does already exist a -preferably large- group with such rules where I can giveaway my old keys, with my back covered? Or maybe there are other alternatives for them?

Group rules do not override SG rules!

There are a couple of groups that will kick members who do not agree to a re-roll, e.g. https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/O5LX8/group-delete-giveaway-if-key-is-not-working

As far as I can see you didn't discuss with the winners of your GA to ask them if they are ok to delete the GA. You should begin with that.

This is my standard giveaway description for those cases:

Spring (?) cleaning, bundle leftover.

It's from a long time ago. Hopefully, it's not been cracked/revoked.

The gift will be delivered as a plain old key. If it doesn't work, please allow the giveaway to be deleted[, but she should be okay (unrevealed until giveaway creation) [I add this part only when it's true]].

There is a difference between putting a description and engaging the discussion between the winners. When you join 50 GA a day you won't remember the description of a specific one. The 3 GA on first page marked not received has no comments from you or the winner.

I don't think the group rules override default rules. I think it only works if the winner had left the group before the giveaway ended - and that's obviously not possible in your situation.

If you give away keys with high risk of being already used, your only options are really to find a new, working key, or to accept the not received mark. If you give away a lot of games and there's a few not received in the lot, I don't think there are any consequences. Only if it happens a lot...

I don't think there's any safe way to do it; but a group / whitelist is better than a public giveaway :)

Join lootboy group. Groups official rule is that the winner has to agree to delete the GA, or they will get kicked from group.

But like others said, group rules doesnt override steamgifts rules. The winner always have to agree to delete with a message in the GA so that support knows that its Ok with the winner. If winner doesnt agree Im sure there is a topic in the group discussion where you can mention that winner didnt agree, and the winner will be banned from the group.

In these cases you will get a not received, no way around it.

my group from Oppenh4imer's comment works. most of my giveaways there was ok, few were deleted though, every winner agreed to delete giveaway that turned out with not working key. I believe Lootboy SG group also works (not a big fan of it being public but that's just me)

(...), but it sucks when the winners aren't understanding of the situation and do not cooperate to delete the giveaway.

If you don't know if your keys are okay or not ; any evil winner may activate the key on another account then tell you it's not working... and leave you with a deleted GA for a working key !
Without a proper way to ask for key revocation+exchange (which would let the evil cheating winner with nothing on the other account, and the GA creator with a new key), there is no solution to this problem AFAICT (I mean, whatever you do with the rules : deleting GA or not, etc.)

Interesting. That evil winner could even use your key to create his own giveaway.

...and then get caught because every key gifted here is stored forever in the giveaway !
Well done ! 👍

No. Your own rules will never overwrite SG general rules. It's like someone would want to make their own rules, that does not respect rules of the country they live in.

All groups can do is to kick away user that do not follow it's rules. But if they are kicked after they win game - they should still receive it. And no points written in the giveaway description or on group page means that giveaway will be automatically re-rolled or deleted because creator makes a ticket. There is a balance between creator and winner - if creator does not do what they are supposed to do - they end with not received feedback (and suspension if number of not delivered gifts is too high, but it's really rare). If winner does not do what they are supposed to do - they end with suspension. So creators are already in privileged position, as risk of them being suspended is minimal. It's them that pay with their money to give games to strangers after all.

It's shameful having to ask the staff for the key to be deleted, but it sucks when the winners aren't understanding of the situation and do not cooperate to delete the giveaway.

It's winner right to receive what was promised in the giveaway. And no one should shame them for wanting to leave not receive feedback when they did not. It's not wrong to follow site rules and leave right feedback when game was not received. I did see creators that literally harass new users into leaving received or agreeing for giveaway deletion. It's not right. We should not create atmosphere where winner feels bad by doing thing they are supposed to do. If someone is not willing to provide working key and still wants to give games that may not work - they must accept they will end with not received feedback.

It was not like that few years ago. And I don't know why it changed. Both not received feedback and deleted giveaways remove one giveaway slot. So it's only cosmetic change to hide creator's mistake.

Easiest way to give keys that may be faulty is give them directly to someone. But it means no CV.

That's fine. You don't have stomach, so we will be able to feed you with the same re-used cake for eternity.

Okay, I may not much of a digestive system, nor even much of a sense of taste..
But I can certainly still appreciate textures and the overall expression that comes with freshness.
And you're suggesting feeding me mushed up, crumbled apart, dry, stale, moldy cake?

Geesh. I knew you were a meaniepants, but I never knew you'd be so.. so terrible!
I'm going to go cry in the corner. You come see me once you've gathered enough apology cake.
Fresh! apology cake! 😑

GPL licensed software doesn't entitle the user to bug-free software, even if one pays for it, but I'm understanding that that is not the game here.
As you say, a balance between giveaway creators, participants and the site wanting to be transparent and reliable.

SG is private website without open-source code. I don't think it falls under GPL. Plus it is written that site is not liable for any errors that may be present in it's Terms of Service.

grrreat!
never thought it that way... so that it also means:

(too) high number of giveaway deletion = (too) high number of "not received"

Not really. You may create giveaway by mistake, and delete it 1h later. There is no winner. User re-creates giveaway with proper regional restrictions, and deliver game like they should.

You have one deleted giveaway, but overall game is properly received by the winner.

Only giveaways that are deleted after they ended can count as "hidden not received".
