You actually can play a game on steam without internet connection, provided that the game doesn't require it to run and you already have it installed.

Just a heads up that they seem to have updated their permanently free games list since the last thread (Scroll or CTRL+F down the main page until you reach the Everything 0% off (it's already free) section, down near the bottom of the page). Typically such offerings are also free on Steam, for those who'd prefer to look them up there. While there's likely no rush to pick them up, there are a couple of good looking new offerings available.

Or just use this link:

And the only really "new" thing is Dink Smallwood HD. The two Elder Scrolls games have been there for a few months since Bethesda retired their launcher and the rest has been there even longer.

I check the free games (that is to say, the full list, by going to the store and marking the search to search for free games - link) every time I access GOG because of SG, and I access GOG because of SG every time there's a promo thread for it on SG. While googling does indicate that all (of the following list) other than Dink Smallwood were added across 2021 and 2022-
The Chronicles of Myrtana
Timelie
Hellpoint:TTF
OpenTTD
Janosik
Nomads
Symphonia
Dink Smallwood
- they certainly weren't showing for me the last times I picked up freebies on GOG (including when I glanced over at the site because of the Elder Scrolls games). Even now, pulling up the list, I'm not seeing most of the games coming up, and I'm noticing several other glitches, so it's likely that list just isn't especially reliable at present.
Then again, most of the games in question don't come up on the list you linked, either, and have never had any SG threads for them. So it's likely that they're going to be new considerations to some individuals other than myself.
Putting aside the games with clear GOG listing issues, I notice that the other games do have SG Deals threads, so I gotta wonder if I missed them simply because they were posted during the periods where the Deals thread was flooded (eg, with non-Deals).
Well, with all that considered, maybe the mention'll still be helpful to others. At the very least, Dink Smallwood, which was added alongside Stasis, should still be worth the noting.

Your list is sorted by release date. That refers to original release, not store release. If you sort from oldest, you wlll find the two Elder Scrolls games and Dink Smallwood pretty quick, because they're old:

The link I posted is also better, because it doesn't include all those demos.

I did post an incorrect link early on, so it may have had some unrelated elements, but I cleaned up the post's formatting and link afterward. Try giving the post a fresh read, see if it's a bit less confusing now. As to your point: As is currently noted, your link doesn't seem to be at all better in covering the missing games. Currently only the front page list seems to be covering the missing games.
Further, as far as my link goes, I was never recommending it, I was just noting that I used it, and that it covered more than your link did. Thereby, your arguments against it wouldn't relate to my intended topics.
Though, the arguments would seemingly not be meaningful even within the topic of recommendation: First, there's the consideration that while there are indeed demos listed, they can both be hidden (by adding them to your library and then hiding them) and that the list I use does give additional non-demo results that the other list does not. Second, the sorting method wouldn't matter for the single page of hide-filtered results (or be especially relevant if you haven't applied filtering, given that none of the filtering methods affect the content in question).
Well, that said, my link existed years before the other one (which I have nevertheless referenced in the past), which is why it's the one I had bookmarked, since I never bothered changing it (namely, since it does feature additional content over the newer list). Further, since I do also follow the SG threads (and, again, pull up that page after claiming the game linked on SG, specifically to check the games not listed on the free list), it wasn't likely that I'd need to check the other list even if there was an oversight (though this is the first I've become aware of that factor).

Now your list is sorted by "bestselling recently" which also isn't really helpful in this case. Did you click my link https://www.gog.com/en/games?priceRange=0%2C0&order=asc%3AreleaseDate&hideDLCs=true ? There you will see, that the two Elder Scrolls games and Dink Smallwood definitely ARE in the list, but they are neither considered new releases nor bestselling, so you won't see them up high with your sorting. There IS NO sorting of that list, that will always show you the newest freebies first.
Also, why are you so defensive? I am not arguing. I provided:
I consider https://www.gog.com/partner/free_games as better. If you don't: you do you.
If you feel offended or attacked by that, we better end this right here. I am here to provide helpful information, not to argue.

Bestselling is just the default sorting that the site sets itself. You're welcome to change it to whatever- though, as I noted, it doesn't really affect anything.
Your link doesn't appear to make much sense whatsoever, within the context you're presenting it (ie, as an alternative to my link), as it doesn't provide any differences in result. I'm really not sure where you're trying to go with your replies, or if you've really given my comments a proper read.
Also, why are you so defensive? I am not arguing. I provided:
- An alternative. (https://www.gog.com/partner/free_games)
- Information. ("the only really "new" thing is Dink Smallwood HD")
- An explanation as to why the link you posted first didn't necessarily show "new" freebies.
- And in this post an explanation as to why the corrected link you posted also doesn't necessarily show "new" freebies.
I consider https://www.gog.com/partner/free_games as better. If you don't: you do you.

Edit: As far as your edit, it's an absolutely bewildering take on my posts, which were simply straightforward clarifications of intent and clarifications of circumstance. It's also just bizarre for many other reasons. At this point this certainly doesn't seem to be going anywhere constructive so, sure, let's cut it out here.
