Let's hope it's less Discovery and more old Star Trek.

I "liked" Discovery, so... but this looks good as well so far. 😅 Although Its funny, that when I scrolled down to the comments already saw someone complaining: "Why is he whistling that tune???" 😬🙈

I hope I'm wrong, but I get the impression the focus will be more on interpersonal drama and personal demons.

Sort of high school teen drama vibe

Looks interesting, will probably watch just for Paul Giamatti but cautiously interested (although I admit I'm yet to be completely sold on Discovery's future era as a setting for a series, I also kinda hope that everything just doesn't go back to the way it was before 🤷‍♂️, what the point of being so far in the future if things just turn out the same way).

That said, it could just be the "come get me" quality of the trailer but there was alot of nostalgia drops in the montage 🤔, I kinda hope the franchise was moving beyond this. That said the throwaway Sisko's fate and apparent Jem'Hadar character has my inner DS9 fan intrigued.

It would be awesome if Sisko would appear in a few episodes, but apparently the actor has little desire, but maybe 1-2 he's willing.

MMhh, female jem'hadar at Starfleet, wtf.
I'd give it a try for Robert Picardo, but this trailer looks woke af.
Big boycott incoming.

Edit: looking at the ratio under the video, seems the majority is on the same page.

Star Trek always was political, is supposed to be political and progressive. So I'm on board with all of this.

Still I hated Discovery with every fiber. Ridiculous plots, with an incompetent crew stumbling from one "we alone must save the universe" scenario to another.

And every series has poor or even terribly written characters. But Discovery's ambition seemed to be to gather the worst of the worst, from all galaxies, timelines and realities. And I already can tell by the trailer that they insist on doing this again.

Well, at least we got SNW in between.

I hated Discovery because it felt like everybody, every time, was just crying. :D
SNW has its own flaws, but at least it's decent and feel old-school ST. But seriously, the most fun I had with ST was the 2 animated series. No propaganda, just pure fun.

I am a fan of Star Trek yes, so much so I watched Discovery. Almost all of it. Then came the final season and I thought to myself "Why am I watching this" and stopped its super cringe.

Same thing with The Acolyte, could not finish it.

Nah. It sadly looks like YA garbage. I don't think they challenge Gen V, and it will be a YA drama with some mild action. Probably there will be some kind of maverick character, personal drama through race (Klingon dude will moan a lot), and some token character just to fill up the quota like the body positive black chick, and I'm sure there will be some LG... character too (Oh I check, the there will be a gy klingon, now I saw everything) But it is Star Trek, so I will cringe through it like I did with Discovery.
