Last win was a year ago. I don't even win 50-100-1000 copies giveaways these days.

I had 2 suspensions if it matters.

Сongratulate you at the casino you better don't go. Give away a couple of games, maybe after that luck will smile at you .

It's all based on luck, if you don't win in a while then RNGesus is just not favoring you right now. Just keep trying and you'll win eventually. Try entering giveaways that have fewer entries to increase your chance of winning. You are less likely to win public giveaways vs winning a whitelist/group/invite only giveaway.

FYI your chance of winning a giveaway is number of copies/number of entries.

Suspension won't make a difference in your chance of winning it's just probabilities. Level 0 GAs usually have lots of entries so your chance are lower. If you wants better odds level up or try to find GAs with less entries by doing puzzles and such.

Actually while suspended you cannot win... at all. After that it doesn't change chances, true.

Hi, your suspensions doesn't matter in this case unless you are trying to access SG-Tools protected gibs with unactivated wins on your record.
My advice to you is being more active in the forums and with own giveaways in order to reach higher levels, then you will be able to enter gibs with better odds. In the forums you can regularly find trains, events and other gib related topics.
Just don't give up and host own giveaways.

What were the reasons for the suspensions, if you don't mind me asking.
Edit: You don't need to answer if it's inconvenient for you. I'm just curious and cannot check if you have unactivated wins due to your private Steam profile.

Hi VBProject. To my knowledge the 2 suspensions on your account shouldn't impact your chances at winning anything. It's all a roll of the dice. I believe I had a few thousand entries before I won something(I've never had a suspension).. and the first win was horrible lol. I entered into a mass giveaway for Drunk Wizards just cause I was tired of not winning anything and the dev team has some controversy behind them as well.

I found a great place to go after that, the group Unlucky 7. You've been here long enough to where you should be able to join up. There's some great people in the group.

Please make sure you read over the FAQ and Guidelines listed at the top of the site so you don't run into any further issues.

For Unlucky 7, I believe that you have to have given away 6 or 8 games to be accepted. This player has only ever given away 1. ;) I could be wrong.

To my knowledge you don't have to give away anything to join.

Okay, maybe not. I joined them when I had only 4 wins or something. I was here less than a month, but had the required number of giveaways. Maybe the restriction doesn't count for older accounts.

Giveaways are only required if your account is less than 2 months old.

The 2 month were added a couple of weeks after launching the group, after we had a huge influx of new users, that requested to join UL7 minutes after registering on SG. If I remember correctly nearly all of those users "forgot" to activate their wins or to mark them received.

record was 23 [non-activated] wins

If we're not specifically talking Unlucky 7 or your own winners, I've personally had winners with well over 23 unactivated wins.
The quantity is generally less of a surprise than the duration, with many users having unaddressed rule-breakings going on over several years. Put another way, I've yet to find someone who managed a couple dozen non-activations within a short period of time; They all built up gradually, implying that only a minority of GA creators properly check their winners before sending games. :X

I can't find the thread now where I mentioned it previously, but I've even encountered a user that won the same game like twelve times over :P

If you're talking UL7 specifically, then yeah, that's a bit.. contrary to the intentions of the group. We had a few users like that in PosTho very early on, which in turn led to a lot of our group's later rule additions [an unfortunate necessity, given that the group's entire aim is to protect SGers against such exploitative users]. So I can't say it's a surprise UL7 encountered similar issues, given that the group's core entry considerations seem to be less strict than PosTho's ever were. :X

12 times is very hard.
The record holder i found was with 5x the same game.
And the record holder for most not activated wins had 46. Build up over 4 years. So yes a lot of GA creators don't check there winners :o(.
That is one of the reasons why my BL is always at 1k and i need more then that space (hint to cg!!!)

I can't recall if my personal record was the user with 27 unredeemed wins with no previous suspension, or if that user is sticking in my mind just 'cause they'd gone nearly 3 years without anyone reporting them once. I still can't find the thread on the multi-win user I mentioned, but I recall the reason they managed such an excessive multi-win was 'cause they were an early user of the site, and in the early days of the site the site's low population, limited game selection, and less-developed oversight made that sort of multi-winning a lot easier to accomplish than later on.

Permalink

Yes, much more older accounts have that multi win marks but normaly with 2 or 3 wins and not 12.

Honestly, I don't get why SG doesn't check users automatically on unactivated wins.
Okay, it would be stressful for the servers, but once in a while it should be done during the syncing process.

Edit: I check my public/public-group winners regularly, and many of them have unactivated wins, but I don't want to create a ticket for every one of them. It depends on the games and support has enough workload anyway. Maybe that's also a reason why there is no automated check: far too many users would be flagged.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Automatic checks would be a logical step to lower the work for all involved humans.

Report EACH and everyone with red marks at steamgifts.
The support can handle that tickets fast and each one that gets warned or kicked, as early as possible, are a win for the honest users.

Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it and you're certainly right about reporting rule violators, but I just don't wanna be a burden for the support staff. If someone for example did not activate a shovelware game 4 years ago, I will most likely let it pass without a report.
So basically it's a trade off between the severity of violation and the game they currently won from me.
Yet luckily I did not encounter such heavy rule breakers with 46 unactivated wins, but needless to say, those would be reported by me instantly without any hesitation. ;)

Not true. Suspensions can prevent you from entering some hidden/private giveaways found in the forum discussions (the ones that use SGTools to check for suspensions before providing the link to the giveaway), but if you can enter a giveaway, you have the same chance as everyone else.

Try entering more than your wishlist. Also look for lower entry GA's. Join a group and make some GA's as well. It happens sometimes. Spacecat can be very fickle these days to some users.

Edit- On a side note, if I remember, the ToS states that your steam profile here must be set to public.

it doesn't. You just have to set it public from time to time to sync with site, otherwise it is not necessary to have public acc. However, some users would you rather have public to check some things on you :)

Level 0 giveaways have A LOT of entries because a lot of people are stil using bots. Progress in levels and try joining some groups for group only giveaways

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah that's it, I'm not an expert for these things but I saw there are lots of groups and such promoting/spreading bots that allow one to enter all the level 0 giveaways no matter what.. so if one stays at level 0 or 1 well, he needs quite a huge portion of luck.. when I make my flash lvl 0/1/2 giveaways I always get like 400/500 entries within less than a hour and obviously most of the times the level 0 giveaways aren't that great xD
anything strange at all..

If your profile would not be set to private, you could enter giveaways like this one: http://sgtools.info/giveaways/7c1641c3-1665-11e9-840c-fa163e96784d
Chances are higher in invite only GAs.

Probability lower than 100% means You can win nothing. Yes, even if You lose 1000 giveaways with 99% chances, it's still nothing wrong here. That's how this works.

Losing once, doesn't higher the chance of winning next time in any way. So that's just how it works. Luck. Or rather lack of luck in Your case.

The only 100% ratio win is if you enter a GA alone, but that is rare outside groups, whitelists or invites.
Join a group or enter GAs with few entries. Better level up too to enter higher level GAs.

I was level 6 for a moment, then I got reduced to 5. Level 6 isn't really that superb. Maybe level 10 is, but definitely not 6. And I doubt it will be big difference on 7 lvl. But to get level 10, You really have to pay more than You ever win back... Just make it clear. People are here for profit. Not for being humble and giving all the best AAA games for others. So i see contradiction here... I should give way more, just to have slightly better chance for winning xD Buying the games for myself would be more profitable. And cheaper.

Permalink

level 10 is even less worth it ;) Very very few GAs get created fopr lvl 10, so what if yoiu have 3 times better chance to win if there is 30 times less GAs? ;p From what I see (mind that I own quite a lot of games so a lot of gAs are filtered by default for me) most high-lvl GAs stop at level 6-7, at level 8 there's already crazy drop.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Haha, so there is another reason why it's not worth it 😂 It's already not much at level 6. There are few, but not too many. At least with games I own, so they are filtered out.

Nothing wrong with level 6. I think I've been sitting on the cusp of 7 for a year or more? I don't seem to move too much. 6.87 right now, though 6.78 would be more visually appealing.

Six is divisible by 1,2,3 and 6 respectively. Most of the numbers leading up to itself. How many other numbers can say the same thing? Apart from 4 coming in with 3 itself.

My point is

It's hard to win public GA — even if I won, it was 1-hour last with small numbers of participants.
So, read the forum regularly — there are many activities: trains, puzzles, holidays events (but almost always min requirements — level1), topics with GA + groups recruitments.
