All games fixed by GOG are at least timed exclusives on GOG.

GOG are listed as the publisher here, which probably means that they've got exclusive rights to the games.

It may be temporary as they had the Interplay Star Trek and Star Wars/X-Wing games exclusive for a while before Steam got them. However these state Random Games Inc./GOG Ltd. as the companies so maybe they bought the rights to them? In which case I don't see them coming to Steam.

As you say, Interplay and Disney have the others. These are listed as GOG themselves. As usual, no one ever gives details on releases from the staff there.

Because they're actually able to make old games run properly

Yeah, people pointed it out on the GOG website and they corrected the "warhammerr" in the link. I've updated it now. They should all work. :)

They fixed Shadow of the Horned Rat and Chaos gate? And without jumping through a boatload of hoops (like setting up a virtual OS?) I'm really impressed, those games were really annoying to set up (I had to run Chaos Gate in a virtual Win98 environment in order to play it). And they also fixed the videos in Final Liberation? What kind of sorcery is this?

And this means that Holistic is on board. Will this mean that they will be able to get the rights to Emperor of the Fading Suns? It had issues similar to Final Liberation, and the fix was nigh identical, so I suspect that it used the same engine.

And because I love talking to myself: Here is Holt, which in itself is reason enough to play Final Liberation.

I've not done enough talking to myself. Chaos Gate probably has one of the best soundtracks ever made. This is what the 40k universe sounds like to me.

Company: Random Games Inc. / GOG Ltd.
so they probably bought rights for the titles

Do we have any big universe that is missing on gog now ? Wh, St, Sw are there and waiting for more.

Do know that Mechcommander 2 is free?

Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries was released for free, and even fixed to work on modern systems. While the site where you could download it is down, there are still copies of the fixed version (which by the way was released with Microsofts blessing) floating around on the web.

I know, I have downloaded that some time back. But the older titles aren't free.

Actually the license was revoked (to be accurate not renewed). It is not legal to distribute it anymore. Mektek.net ended up dropping support for Mechwarrior and Battletech, which means they stopped work on MekPak 4 and Assault Tech 1 Battletech.

Ah, I thought they were just changing their focus. That's a shame :( I'm glad that I still have the files on my computer.

I remember it was a pain to make Chaos Gate run under Windows XP. So many hours spent hacking the executable with Win32Dasm...
Good game though!

I had a very long tiring day and seeing the email from gog.com announcing this was a totally unexpected and awesome surprise. My Final Liberation and SoTHR discs have long been lost. Now if they just get Dark Omen, I'm set.

I really hope Final Liberation: Warhammer® Epic 40K comes to Steam soon. :D I got that game as a freebie from a PC magazine back then and loved it because it was the closest adaption of the boardgame I've seen. Unluckily I had I gamebreaking bug on stage 3 or 4 that would occur every single time.

No love for Dark Omen yet... :(

Dark Omen had a different publisher. Horned Rat (part 1 in the series) was published by Mindscape, Dark Omen by Electronic Arts. Considering the amount of "lost" games that have been digitally re-released as of late, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibilities for Dark Omen to see a digital release, but there might be a bit more legal tangle to deal with.

True. I didn't remember good'ol EA published Dark Omen back in the days.

I'd be the happiest smurf in town if they just give it for free in one of those "free game of the month" they use to run. One can dream...
