This has been brought up before among the interwebs.
Would love to see something happen between the two companies though. A combination of the librarys would be nice.

As much as I'd love to see this happen..there's no way it's possible

Bad news people.
That tweet is about EA's new IP, it'll be announced at The Game Awards 2014 today(Friday).
Steam's origin url stuff is just a bug about re-directing from a page to another.Steampowered domain itself causing a small bug, it started after Broadcasting thing.
Those are what I've heard, please don't kill me because I shared an opinion on internet.I know it's not ethical :(

I noticed the origin url during the exploration sale already. It didn't come with the broadcasting.

I think I also saw a tweet the other day about god and satan pairing up for a world tour. Rebecca Black and Hot Problems are said to be joining them for the apocalypse.

origin means source server for CDN.
Access to it limited so it's not available outside to prevent DDoS-attacks.
CDN works like proxy between you and steam servers. (Static resources like images are cached)
This means it's just bug in url generation :)

I wouldnt count on it. The steam.origin url is strange though. If something went wrong with the coding and some back end script is building incorrect url strings... its strange no one fixed it by now. Then again, if the back end script is reading full wrong urls from a database, it would suggest some internal change that's going to happen with steam. But as far as I know, "origin" is also a default subdomain in some CDN services. All this suggests is that valve is strengthening its content delivery network. With the incoming sales, we all know steam needs it.

If they merge hopefully Steam gets EA's superior support!

Here's hoping, it would be a smart move on EA's part to talk peace with Valve. I mean, it's totally understandable that a developer doesn't want to let Valve take a big slice of their profts just for using their platform, so I get why Origin was a thing, but finding a workable middle-ground that lets Valve sell EA games would boost their customer reach by a huge margin.
Here's hoping there aren't any sneaky Origin EULA bits slipped into the mix.

Can someone tell me what has happened? :D The suspense is killing me. Plus it's been a day now.

I understand that steam wouldn't merge with steam, but what to make of this tweet https://twitter.com/OriginInsider/status/540264039486480386

So this "Explosive" news was just a shitty sale? >_>
That's EA in a nutshell... Perpetual disappointment... -_-

We all knew that the "something explosive" would turn out to be explosive diarrhea. It's EA.

Wow..."Be prepared to check the Origin store tomorrow for something explosive. You'll want to trust us on this. "
No, trust is gone..
