Another update was just rolled out, allowing users to delete their own giveaways.

If you view one of your giveaways, you'll see a Delete Giveaway button where the typical Report Giveaway button is located. If you click it, you'll be forwarded to a page where you can select a reason for the deletion from a dropdown menu (See below for the list). After selecting a reason, the giveaway will be instantly removed. I know there are going to be a lot of questions, so I'll try to summarize some of the mains points.

  • First off, about 20% of our support tickets come from users asking for deletes, so this will be a huge help at reducing the workload in support.
  • The site should be cleaner in general since the creator can now delete their own giveaway or beta key after realizing their mistake, instead of submitting to support and waiting on us.
  • Only giveaways which are open or coming soon can be deleted by the giveaway creator. This ensures they do not delete a giveaway after it ends simply because they don't agree with the winner.
  • Deleted giveaways remain on your View Created page. This way, if a moderator removes one of your giveaways, there's still a record in place so you can find out what happened.
  • Giveaways that have been deleted list a reason of why they were removed, and whether the action was performed by a moderator or the giveaway creator. For example, click here.
  • Points are automatically refunded to users that entered a deleted giveaway.
  • When you create a giveaway, there's a notification saying, 'Based on your current feedback score, you're able to create up to x additional gifts.' Deleted giveaways count towards this limit, so if you're able to create 5 additional gifts, and you create and delete them all, you'll be locked out. This prevents users from simply creating and removing giveaways, or trolling.

Definitely. This will avoid many "accidents", and without overloading the support database. Well done :P

the stupidity around here is at a very high level so i don't think that the users who create a giveaway "by accident" will delete it. For the pure reason that some people are simply STUPID.

Yes, but at least there is now foundation for moderators to have abilities to delete giveaways without need to wait for admin to do it.

Why wasn't this implemented earlier? :/

Awesome though :D

As I understood before, there was no logging so admin would have no trace of which giveaways were deleted, why and by who. Now when that is set in place, I guess we are one step closer to having moderators again.

What will the excuse be for fake giveaways now? Maybe "I've created it accidentally and my mouse stopped working so I cant delete it"

Regarding the last point:

When you create a giveaway, there's a notification saying, 'Based on your current feedback score, you're able to create up to x additional gifts.' Deleted giveaways do not add to this total, so if you're able to create 5 additional gifts, and you create and delete them all, you'll be locked out. This prevents users from simply creating and removing giveaways, or trolling.

Is this supposed to say "deleted giveaways DO add to this total?" I'm confused since the example seems to imply that deleted giveaways count towards the limit.

No, it's correct. If you create a giveaway, it subtracts one from that number, and deleting the giveaway doesn't add one back. The wording is a little confusing, I'll adjust it.

Makes perfect sense now. Sorry for the confusion.

So deleting a giveaway permanently reduces the number of giveaways you can have open by 1? Sounds good. My only concern about such a system was trolling (e.g. Skyrim giveaway, delete with 1 second left), and that sounds like a serious disincentive. Thanks for your efforts, cg.
