"As of the time of publication, Total Rendition has been priced at $5.99 (USD) or £4.79 in the UK. We are planning to change this price in about a week or so. More specifically, we intend to increase the price of Total Rendition to $39.99 (USD) or £33.50, or their regional equivalents elsewhere. So, if you currently own a copy already, congratulations: You will have saved quite a bit!"

[Update] Their new "plea". Too long of a rant to copy and paste.
They REMOVED my thread where i just simply adressed their pricing how it was a bad idea in a civil manner and how some might see it as asset flipping, and again removing ANOTHER thread about them censoring. so they will CENSOR anything they see as bad publicity.
And meanwhile BANNED..

Yeah, it looks really bad, and definitely not worth $40, not even $20.

If you remove the "your langue" tag you will see two reviews. One short positive review and a long negative.
But i agree the game is bearly worth the price it is at now.

To be fair, the game has twi reviews: one positive and one negative.^^

But I'd never buy this game, not even for 0.49€.

It probably is, the youtube clip above isn't nice about the game.

Not sure how i got it, probably bundled as i would definitely not even get this in a sale.

Clearly an attempt to get some change from collectors. Scummy, and the worst part: it works.

Checking the game, I don't know why I would want to pay for it, or even play it.
Panicky FOMO-affected collectors will surely buy it.

Of course he did. He also attempted to make a serious announcement which I couldn't help but laugh pretty hard as I read it. Here's a little bit from the lengthy announcement.

"We have received a lot of "criticisms" over our development methodology. We have been accused of "asset flipping" for using placeholders and we have gotten at least one negative review premised on the false belief that most of Total Rendition's development lies behind us, instead of ahead of us. However, to be perfectly honest, we have had anticipated all this bile well in advance and we are not deterred at all. Is Fallout: New Vegas a bad game because Van Buren was short and buggy? Of course not. Van Buren was a necessary stepping stone in making New Vegas."

He also mentioned "We have had actually shown Total Rendition's GDD to Rockstar Games in 2018. They were not at all interested in co-opting it at the time. If they did, then Total Rendition probably would be developing at a much faster pace, would be looking much better already and perhaps many of our critics would have greeted Total Rendition with raving anticipation. Indeed, we ourselves had significant reservations of releasing Total Rendition in its current state." lol..

This youtuber actually gives the game a chance and completed it.

I got this in a bundle from itch (can't remember which one) and I've been regularly receiving hilarious whiny emails from the dev about how nothing went as planned during distribution. Here's the latest one for example:

*Hi everyone,

We are writing you to announce that Schizotypy Games is due to disappear from Itch entirely in about two weeks from today. This will affect Total Rendition's presence on Itch as well, so we wish to give you a fair notice in advance.

This was a conscious decision on our part, as Itch has not made any obvious moves to ban (or maybe deplatform?) us (yet). On the other hand, several past incidents, including the Steam keys distribution issues, which Itch has not resolved to this day, has led us to conclude it is in the best interests of Total Rendition's development that we pull out from Itch permanently.

Despite this, Total Rendition remains in development. If you have claimed Total Rendition on Itch and have yet to receive a Steam key, you should respond to this mail as soon as possible or at least make a screenshot of the download page as proof of ownership.

Thank you on behalf of Schizotypy Games,*

This price increase looks like their latest attempt at stand-up comedy.

I checked steam licenses page and had (9 Sep, 2022; Total Rendition), checked my email and there was a itch email sent by dev on that day containing a bunch of keys, you probably got it there too?

Yeah I got the same email with the endless list of Steam keys. I tried a couple of them but all were taken and I wasn't particularly interested in the game so I didn't really go further ("I got this" just means "it was included in some itch bundle", I don't have it on Steam). Why would somebody send an email full of Steam keys to random people, expecting bots and resellers wouldn't take half of them if not more, is beyond me.

ah ok, if you go to the game download page on itch, it will tell you where you got it from, mine says:

You claimed this game play Oct 29, 2020 for the promotion Total Rendition Halloween & Elections Pilot 2020.

I imagine many people got it there for free too.

Thanks again, I can confirm I indeed got it through the same promotion. Although "got it" seems to be a bit of a stretch since there's apparently "nothing available for download yet". Maybe it was possible to download it at some point, but for now all I got is another good laugh :D

No way that game will sell for $39.99... Like others here, I also think it's only a desperate attempt from them to drive sales, hoping collectors will jump in because FOMO. It's laughable and sort of cringe at the same time.

Furthermore, since the full version of Total Rendition is envisaged as a narrative-driven AAA title, $39.99 is still somewhat of a discount.

Eh, it still has a long long way to go to achieve that state. I doubt they'll be able to turn that game from crap to amazing, this won't be a No Man's Sky 2.0. Worst case scenario: they'll abandon the game. Best case scenario: they'll abandon the game.

It's 100% percent that.

A scummy tactic to get some cash quick, probably before dropping it completely. I mean, no one is going to buy this at 40 bucks - they will have zero sales and zero reason to do any work on it.

... then again, FOMO tactics has become so common in the games industry that this isn't even the most egregious case of it I've seen this week, and it's Monday.

Hello, I am one of the developers and after Christmas, we will be increasing the price to $59.99

However, just before Christmas, from 23:55 to 00:00 we will also temporarily lower the price from $39.99 to $3.99 so make sure to grab it in that small time window. Thank you for your continued support!

do they understand what makes a game AAA? it has almost nothing to do with the content and everything to do with the budget and size of the team.based on this unknown game and unknown studio, i can only assume that the team is a few people at most and the budget is already in the negative. and im not trying to downplay indie games. i primarily play indie games and they are way better than a lot of AAA games imo. just that this game is an unexciting, likely failing project that they are trying to use FOMO to sell more copies before it comes abandonware

just reading this is enough to make you stay way from that dev/company.
"Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“During the Early Access phase, Total Rendition will be priced at a significantly lower rate compared to the full version, which in turn is intended to be priced at the industry standard for AAA games. As development moves towards the full version, Total Rendition's price will be gradually increased.

One player who returned the game, who wrote us that Total Rendition is only "one level and broken for the most part", clearly did not get the memo. We have added and improved many things since, with much and much more on the way. Said player added that Total Rendition is "not worth 1 dollar let alone 5": We'll see about that.

Early players with audacity are rewarded with a large de-facto discount. You may therefore choose to benefit from the lower price, even if you are not interested in playing the current version right now, in anticipation that future versions may interest you instead.” "
