Best racing game on Steam? [No Giveaway]

If you like kart racing games, the Sonic and Sega Allstars titles would be worth looking at.

Are you more on arcade or sim games? Anyways, I would recommend...

• DiRT series (imo, 2 is the best...);
• Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box (pretty nice and intense arcade fun);
• Some of the NFS series (I like HP :$);
• GRID series (only played the first and had lots of fun on console with that...);
• Driver: San Francisco has some interesting racing stuff too.

And maybe a look over here will help...

The one with the cars is good.

ZERO GEAR. Of course it's a karting game (I still like it better than Sonic and F1 racing stars even if it's dated :<)

I've only 100%ed flatout and nfs: underground (2?) for being awesome but that was before steam.

No one else seems to be mentioning the TrackMania series. If you like time trials, arcade racing, and crazy tracks then I would have to say TrackMania 2 Stadium or Canyon (I have not played Canyon though). If you just want to try a TrackMania game then there is a free one called TrackMania Nations Forever on there as well.

Driver San Francisco is incredibly fun. It's my favorite racing game since Need for Speed Underground 2 on the Gamecube. The game has a very fun tone and the driving mechanics are very fun to use.

2 off road games you might like:

I've been having fun with DiRT 2 lately (wait until it's on sale again, I picked this up for less than $5.00 US)
It's got tricky handling though so skip it if you are easily frustrated.

Fuel is okay if you like to just drive around freely, there are races in it as well, but the free drive is where it gets interesting (for me anyway)

Trackmania is huge fun but the cars handle like toys, it's about as unrealistic as a car game gets. Depends if that's an issue for you. It is bunches of fun though.

Burnout Pradise or Flatout 2 - for mad fun

Driver San Francisco - for story and gameplay

NFS - nah, just kidding

And I enjoyes Test Drive Unlimited 2 for Open World Racing + Stickering

Crash Team Racing - best PS1 racing game imo!

Dirt 3 is also good but it's basically the same stuff as in 2.

In my opinion you should like F1 Race Stars - a Mario Kart style race game with f1 drivers from 2012 :)

I have too jump the GRID bandwagon - great game. Gets the balance between simulation and arcade racing quite right for my taste.
Also I had a lot of fun with Test Drive Unlimited 2. The whole open world thing works very well here and the weird sims-like avatar dressup stuff can be ignored for the most part.

For the kart racing I second Sonic & Allstars Transformed.

Dirt (or DLrC) is just annoying due to all the integrated BUY ME NOW DLC but if you can ignore that they are mostly good games.
NFS: Shift is good.
F1 2011 is great, but very hard.

GRID is definitely best (first one not second, second one sucks). But if you want open-world racing game then you should choose Test Drive Unlimited 2. It's so much fun playing online with friends, trust me.
