I will go to EA with a shit load of dynamite and blow them up.

Only one of the others was an RTS so although your statement is true, I wouldn't really consider it valid.
Renegade 2 was a FPS, Continuum was an MMORPG, Tiberium was another FPS while Tiberian Incursion was an RTS. Tiberian Incursion would have probably been a success so long as they didn't destroy the gameplay as it was supposed to tie the Tiberium and Red Alert timelines together!

Since I never played a C&C game before in my life I can't really say I feel anything about this. But consider this: Last year they actually ditched the Generals 2 subtitle and declared that it would be a F2P game.
You weren't getting a sequel to Generals for more than a year now. And considering how Simcity turned out, I'd recommend against shedding any tears.

Not sad, there will be another one soon but not P2W, ahm, F2P.

I'm not. It was all set to be a piss-poor micro-transaction ridden P2W clusterfuck, and a shameful stain on the good name of the original C&C Generals. Good riddance.

Bioware Victory, now just renamed Victory Games. Similar to Bioware Mythic (formerly and once again now Mythic Entertainment). It was an entirely new studio being marketed under a known and respected brand name. It's something that actually happens quite frequently in the industry. For instance, it really is true that the Ion Storm who made Deus Ex was not the same Ion Storm who made Daikatana. Unfortunately the loyalty to brands rather than the actual talent behind them tends to bite consumers in the ass.

Its not on Steam, so I wouldn't play it in the first place.
Surprising news though, nothing like them to cancel something.. EA never had a problem with shipping a turd.

"EA never had a problem with shipping a turd." well, not when John Riccitiello was running the show. Now that he's gone and someone else is leading the company, it looks like they're again paying more attention to their consumers, not just their shareholders.
Outright dumping Online Passes back in May was the first really visible sign of this.
This - axing a game based on player feedback for the first functioning prototype - can be seen as a second.

I'm not a fan of Generals.
Also they screwed up the whole C&C universe eventually after Westwood. So...

Don't be sad. It was going to be very buggy, a pay to win fest like we haven't seen before. it would have required origin and it would have sucked due to not living up to the expectations. So you're not missing out on anything; they're doing us all a favor with that cancellation.

Dont be sad. I was part of the alpha test and it was fucking awful. No better than a facebook game.

Someone should just do a refresh of the old C&C Generals game. I'd buy the game (again) for improved graphics, etc.

Me too (provided it wasn't an Origin release, of course!)
Generals is one of my favourite games of all time, and is long overdue a worthy sequel (or even just a tarted up reboot). This abortive release was neither, and I am already lacing up my dancing shoes to go all Fred Astaire on its freshly dug grave :)

Looking down the thread, most clearly people are.
I suspect the majority of people who have any affection for the original will be be more than happy that this abhorrent piece of turdware has been flushed down the great gaming u-bend. Don't confuse infant haemorrhoids with the curious phenomenon of discerning consumers not being prepared to accept lazy, third rate, exploitative shovelware being cynically marketed as the sequel to a much loved franchise...

I am sad. I liked the original Generals. When I saw teaser screenshots of G2, I was kinda pleased that there would be a sequel, though the picture was rough. Remember many good games with similar setting on a bit different topic, and G2 loses even before release. The original Company of Heroes looks much better than G2 screenshots. So, I am sad that they killed the franchise so badly, but there is a positive side of it - they will not ruin the concept by launching a sore trash and the original Generals will remain in my memory for good.

As people may know, there was a new Generals Game of Command and Conquer coming out later this year.
It was confirmed that EA decided to cancel the development of Generals 2.
Who's sad? :(
