I've been monitoring the winner since and it's been 13 days of them logging on and entering giveaways but no response from them via the Steam friend request nor E-mail, and they haven't appeared to have activated it on their own Steam account. Should this be driving me as mad as it is? Are they just ignoring the space cat gif? Should I do anything?

In any case, here's some giveaways of means to try and make this worth glancing at then closing:

With 7 days of ended the GA, you can ask for a reroll providing screenshots as proof , you tried to contact the winner(s)

you can ask for it now

What should I do if the winner of my giveaway has not redeemed their gift, and I'm unable to get into contact with them?
If you've been unable to reach the winner of your giveaway using email and Steam after one week of your giveaway ending, and they have not yet activated or redeemed any keys or gifts you attempted to send, please contact support to request a new winner. When creating a ticket, we ask you to include data that suggests you made an adequate attempt to contact the winner, such as screenshots of emails, friend requests, or gifts pending on Steam. If the request is approved, a new winner will be generated by the site.

Edit< Well, if he redeemed it, so you can contact support anyways, seems under request feedback

I feel somewhat bad as the account is a 0:0 ratio and this would be "someone's first win" but the e-mail account off the bat was suspicious to me and considering their profile pic is rather borderline breaking ToS for Steam, I'm not surprised that they haven't attempted a reply to any of my contact... thanks for the info!

Have they revealed the key?

You an submit a ticket to support and attach proof of the your attempts to contact the winner and they should grant you a new winner. You can do this in the future if it's been seven days after the giveaway has ended, and you've attempted to contact the winner.

Where exactly do I check if it's been "revealed?" I can look at the winner and it shows sent (green) and awaiting feedback. I do have the e-mail already sent to them and can screenshot my friend request if necessary, thanks!

Usually I wait for 3 days, then write them an email and if possible a message on steam and if they still do not answer that or activate the game, I let support do a reroll after a week. Exception is of course if they haven't been online at all, since we all have a RL.

Already hit them with the e-mail/screenshot combo and they've been online plenty of times for extended periods. Thanks for the feedback though!

So far it hasn't been viewed... so I have no idea what course of action would be best for this situation. The user appears to be active yet hasn't revealed the key itself.

then reroll the winner.
take a screenshot of the sent key, that should be enough. ^^

It's been over 7 days, ask for a reroll. If he's been online but hasn't responded to you or checked their key then they obviously aren't interested in the game and are just wasting your time.

EDIT: Fixed typos.

If they have been on many times and you tried many times to contact them and they ignored you. Then do a reroll and blacklist them so you don't have to deal with them anymore. Especially if this is their first win, that's just rude.

It happened 2 times with me already, and I joined 1 month ago. Why enter a GA for a game that they don't want?

Just take a screenshot and don't forget to edit the key part so its not entirely visible.

My advice for you is to set a minimum level, of 2, for your public Giveaways. Thats the only way how you can hold the worst people out and have much lesser trouble with the winners.
Yes it hits a few nice people that aren't level 2 but the ammount is tiny in relation to the worst people that you hit with it.

Oh and you can always check users -special the winners of your GA's- with http://www.sgtools.info/ (Rule checkers, Multiwins and not activated). When something light up in red then contact the support.

I re-roll pretty much everyone at 7 days, especially if I tried to reach them and they didn't respond. Now, if someone responds and says, "hey, I'm on holiday right now," then no worries, I stay patient and wait for them to return. But radio silence = re-roll.

I have one person who won a GA from me, viewed the key, but never marked it as received. The mods can't compel them to mark it as received because they haven't logged in since the day they entered the GA. If they ever return, then they can apparently take care of it. That was five months ago...I'm not holding my breath. I think that user is gone. LOL This also explains why I rarely do level 0 GAs anymore...no way to message that person on SG because we don't have a message/chat/IM system. Since they've never given anything, I don't have a way to jump in to one of their threads and post a reminder. Thus, unless someone has given at least 1 measly gift, they're not very likely to get a win from me...just burned too many times from shady level 0s.

You can request a "Gift received" from the mods.
If the game of the GA is activated in the winner library, you can take a screenshot and make a ticket "Request Received Feedback".

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's precisely what I did. But they can't complete the request unless the user logs back in at least once. That's the trick - if the user disappears entirely, then you're stuck. As long as they're coming back and just ignoring communication, the mods can compel them to mark it received, or force it themselves.

That ain't nice for the ppl giving games for free.
An automated "Gift Received" would be nice for a key viewed for more than a week.

Too much bots, autojoiners and people that have multiwins or not activated red marks at sgtools. And of course the extreme leechers too.

Yeah, there are plenty of leechers at level 1 & 2, but the percentage goes waaaaaaayyyyy down in comparison to level 0. Let's face it, if anyone is even remotely serious about participating around here (or even a regular, casual user), they'll be at level 2 within a couple of weeks. It doesn't take much effort. Even if all they do is grab some Otaku trash or a $1 bundle or two, at least that shows some good faith. Not everyone has a lot of disposable income, and I totally get that. On the other hand, I don't think that we're seeing a lot of starving people around here, either, so contributing a couple of bucks to give back to the community simply isn't too much to ask.

Oh and i let each one rerolled after 7 days Bad that the autojoiner people mostly claim there wins after 6 days....
Only exceptions are when i get a short message like "i am away, will react as soon as i am back at home", "i am down because of private things, need a bit time" or whatever elese. Or when i know this user and expect a problem at his site and not a autojoiner...^^

Same crap for me like 1 outta 10 ga's i make the dam winner never reponds, always lvl 0 on SG and steam no public profile, don't mark as receive = no feedback and always latinos =wtf and last time support couldn't even tell if the winner saw the keys so i ended up just posting the keys on another ga , as freebie / first come first served , deleting the ga instead of reroll :/… Good thing it wasn't a "AAA" game from now on ill do only lv1+ ga's even for garbage games sorry SG newbs you had your chances...

My advice is minimum level 2+. Then you close out a lot of the worst ones that make a lot of, unneeded, work and trouble.
Too much bots, autojoiners and people that have multiwins or not activated red marks at sgtools. And of course the extreme leechers too by all under level 2.
You have at public GA's, level 2 a 70% Chance to find someone that activate the win, have no red marks at sgtools and know the word thanks.

You will have the most problems with Brazilians and CIS/russian ones.

When you must say "please take your free stuff", do that for days at sg, steam, email and send a proof to the support of that. Yeah than you know something is wrong, very wrong (and that the other one is in most of the cases a autojoiner user and a asshole).

Last time i gave away Games with public Level 1 GA's, i had to write the support for 10 from 25 people. And of top of that 10, 2 or 3 other ones (too) don't know the word thanks. So nearly the half are wasted money/lifetime and brought me NO fun.
By a other GA i checked EACH entry. From 330 Users i took 180 into my Blacklist (and reported ~30 of them because of all the red marks at sgtools). I done such a complete check exactly 1x because it was much too much work, i haven't enough space for more of such guys in my Blacklist and when i do that more often i will loose the motivation to give something on this site.
The people that cheat/exploit/are heavy rulebreakers are overwhelming and the level restriction is only a really weak/unpleasent help against them because they can be much higher as level 2 with only 5$ (it gave different cv farming bundles that pushed the people with 5$ to level 3 or 4 :( -that specific games should be calculated as free or nearly free [it would be a nice thing to see how 20% of the sg users gets there "cheated" levels killed... and show more of the truths behind the GA's. Shows the generous people and the egoistic people that cheated there levels with a handfull of dollars]).

All that problems and assholes not so nice users pushed me to the point to nearly "only" make Whitelist and Group GA's and give much more to friends and lesser to this site.

So please use sgtools.info for the checks of ALL your winners. When something appears with red marks hit the reroll button and copy the support the link(s) + listed infractions. Sometimes that lead to a suspended user and , more often, to a reroll at least go the GA then to a, hopefully, nice person.

Makes a lot of sense , I been meaning for a while to stop public ga's but I have a big heart and other's profit from that , now its over ill only make lv2 and up gas from now on, i got 3 winners who are online recently didn't give feedback for 3-4 days all lvl 0 here and on steam all latinos again but only one of them viewed the key was for a somewhat A ish game , im gonna verify this later with sgtools for the 2 other guys ill click the unsend button for now , dam bots...

I don't get those people either. Recently I've had three cases of winners coming to the site every day, being online on Steam as well and redeeming almost at the last moment. It drove me crazy, On of them said the key was invalid, which was highly unlikely imo and then I had to deal with support, get a new key etc. The entire experience will just lead to me not making public giveaways any more.

I had someone all caps "INVALID KEY, REPORT" when I had simply swapped an L and an I... took 2 seconds to correct, 15 seconds to look at his other giveaways, notice his behavior, and report.

The whole "awaiting feedback" makes me extremely anxious, just like any other thing I'm waiting an indefinite amount of time for. Waiting to hear back about those doctor test results? Friend not answering your text right away? Stomach reaaally hurts but can't poop? Yup, anxious shakes and ticks.

What really chaps my ass is not saying at the very least "thanks" for the free game. At least have a bit of gratitude. But, that's life, and you can't let people's oddities get to you because you feel people need to act a certain way according to your own beliefs.

I'm okay with not getting a thanks despite going out of my way to leave a comment on every win, but if you're just going to sit there, not collect your free game, AND ignore any and all attempts at contact, I'm kind of done with you.

We've all got different things that set us off. For me, yeah that would bug me a bit but I know I've done the same thing to countless people in my time; it's not because I'm an asshole it's because I just genuinely got distracted. Not always the case, but mostly :)

Man....I've never experienced this "awaiting feedback" thing before
but now i have two of them.
Does make you wonder if these are people's main steam accounts or maybe it's just some users are not as involved as some of us .
I can see they've logged in to steam recently but i suppose that doesn't mean anything ,could be just ASF or something.
Anyway , i'll wait a bit longer and see.
