Hey guys just a heads-up. This user just blacklisted me because I asked him nicely why is he giving away a wishlisted game. You can see my comment on PUBG giveaway. You decide.

link removed.

Edit: He got permanently suspended.

Yeah, a classic newbie mistake, he didn't bother to read the FAQ (or to use the most basic common sense, really :D ). Speaking of the FAQ, you should probably delete the link to the guy's profile and close the thread, because calling out like that is also against the rules ;)

Careful. No calling out in here. Just report him for fake GA's. I was once suspended for 2 days for not reporting but calling out.

which is pretty pointless in itself , i have one that is over 2 years still in the que.

Because support it checking user reports from newest to oldest. And your 2 y/o user report is most probably long invalid. If you think that it's still relevant you can try and re-open it.

Ok I removed the link but Im not calling out. I just present what happened. Anyway he deleted the giveaways but it wasn't a rookie mistake he was asking people to join a steam group by spamming "go go guys!" and like that and deleted them a few mins before end.

Posting the link to the guys profile and giving it as a heads up is considered calling out. Mods here frown upon that, Especially one who shall not be named.

Even when he's blacklisting me for no reason?

Yes.
Edit-
I think I spotted a fake giveaway, what should I do?

We typically allow all giveaways to run their course without judgement, and allow the giveaway creator a fair chance to prove themselves and to come through with the gift in the end. An exception is when the giveaway creator enters a description that clearly states the giveaway is fake, or if the description illustrates a lack of understanding of how the giveaway system works. Please refrain from posting any comments accusing the giveaway creator of posting a fake giveaway, and only create a support ticket if the giveaway is fake beyond a reasonable doubt.

Ok got it. I quickly removed the link anyway. My bad.

No problem. Just don't want to see you get into trouble over this.
As someone who has been suspended once for doing this, I like to try and help people avoid the same thing.

Everyone is able to blacklist you for no reason.. People don't need a reason to blacklist you.
So yes, even when he does that

Yeah this. I got +1 blacklisted because of this thread. I really don't understand why people are so mean.

Blacklisted for answering me, and twice blacklisted because talking about blacklisting, well, I will blacklist myself for talking about blacklisting too

Personally, I've always thought it would be hilarious if you can blacklist yourself. I'd do it just for a goof.

Same logic if you say "nobody needs a reason to hate you while you walking the street and never met you before". I can understand that but we are visiting a community about giving away games and making people happy, it doesn't make sense to be that way.

On a positive note, the blacklist rules were changed to be more fair than before May of this year. If you not have checked: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/uWdUq/two-way-blacklists

Thanks. Yes I'm aware of the changes. Because of this I will giveaway some good games in the upcoming days/months (who knows when) so I will "punish" somehow those who blacklisted me for nothing. Kudos to SG for the changes we don't need toxic people in a community that has a charity profile.

Just a counterpoint; even though in this case it seems the giveaways were fake, I have from time to time given away games that are on my wishlist. Better not to assume they are fake, if it turns out that they are they will be dealt with afterwards.

For every few thousand of fake giveaways we'll have a unicorn like this: https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/0qQy2/grand-theft-auto-v

So, you never know! :)

Wow I feel bad for that guy getting all those comments like that. While the calling out rule may seem strange to newcomers, that GA is a great example of why it exists.

Well, that giveaway pretty much managed to hit all the possible alarm bells. New user. Exactly three copies of GTA V. Made to promote a YouTube channel. Said YT channel being about CS:GO, which is probably the biggest scam magnet the video game world has ever seen. Did not have the games in his inventory when the giveaway was posted.
It really was a unicorn because we have never, ever seen someone before managing to hit each and every telltale sign of a typical fake giveaway yet actually delivering the games, nor have we seen since then.

No no, please, I've never said they are fake because they are wishlisted games. I said "welcome to SG! May I ask why are you giving away a wishlisted game?" he replied they are sponsored by a friend and that's it. I didn't say anything more and gave him the benefit of the doubt. So a minute after I tried to enter PUBG's giveaway to get the message "You do not have permission to view this giveaway because this user has blacklisted you"!

Then given this, and his spam to people in comments section for entering his group I started to realize that something is wrong. I created this thread but 2 minutes after, he deleted both PUBG and GTA5 giveaways.

This always amazes me. I can understand the thought that maybe the game you select for a giveaway will be provided by someone else. However, you would think the fact that the front page isn't filled with GTA 5 and Witcher 3, would be a big tip off.

I don't understand it either. You have to be pretty retarded and completely lacking in any common sense.

Well, probably because everyone else already got their Witcher 3 and GTA V copies.
You can safely switch Witcher 3 to ISPEAKONLYINCAPS's Battlegrounds now though. I think that will be the go-to "subscriibe to my totes legit CS:GO channel tell reveals you how to get $500,000,000,000 skis for free in 10 minutes" giveaway material for the foreseeable future.

what the problem with fake giveaways?

just enter and wish you would win, points are free so even if you don't get a game you lose nothing.

I've no problem with fake giveaways, no problem at all, even thought these are "expensive" ones. His behaviour was very suspicious and I realized that he's trying to scam people for entering his groups and stuff by giving away nothing. I was about 100% sure they are fake and that's why I wanted to let people know. And never told not to enter I wanted you to decide.

But as it turns out I can't do that and I ended up getting more blacklists for trying to help.

There were a couple of other AAA giveaways by a fresh account around the same time. Both are permanently suspended now.
Using more than one account here is an easy way to get permanently suspended.

Edit: Looks like one account was created (on Steam) after the other was VAC baned.

Age: 16

I think we got our entire explanation just right there.
(Okay, there and with CS:GO making up 72% of the account's play time.)

As teacher, I have to disagree.
True, 16 year olds have still much to learn, but at least some are able to behave themself online. Or so I was told by them, when we were discussiong Steam's VAC policy is or is not "utterly useless shit".

I was more referring to this site. He was too impatient to look into how it works, he started behaving recklessly, then he was thrown out. It is like when a 16-yo tries to go to a nightclub or similar entertainment venue for the first time. Teenagers being teenagers. :)

I don't care about those giveaways anymore. If you say those are fake, you got 2 days suspension. Not worth it. Make all the fake giveaways you want. Points are free and they will be deleted or mark as not received so nobody cares.

I've never said they are fake* just what happened and I wanted people to decide. I was about 100% sure there's something wrong and that's why I created this discussion. I don't do the same for every single one I think it's fake.

*Except the title which I need to edit because I didn't meant that way.
