Normally when a newbie comes onto steam gifts they usually come up with an idea on how to make it better, a lot of which are funny or not too great but I thought I would make my own.

So my idea is that you can create hidden list items on a comment which allows you to create a list that is seen as hidden until clicked on, sort of like a spoiler button you see on some websites. Except a user can only open one item on the hidden bar list or how ever many the commenter configured it. See example below:

The list can look something like this:

  • Hidden 1
  • Hidden 2
  • Hidden 3
  • Hidden 4

But for example if I clicked on Hidden 1 and then Hidden 2 it becomes this:

  • Show 1: Congrats you ninjed Desura game Rise of the Ravager: ELB1-RHTL-IVJY-JDX0
  • Show 2: Unfortunately you already clicked on one of the list
  • Hidden 3
  • Hidden 4

So the idea is that it can be used in many different places for example in creating a private giveaway it could give people different hints depending on how lucky you are or allow for more complexity in group giveaways to work it out together. The other thought is that since the values are hidden auto scripts cant just ninja a game automatically. Plus I'm hoping it would mean that a lot more people will be able to ninja games instead of say 1 person ninjaing all 7 games. I also hope that it will make devs want to drop more keys as it will allow for a higher amount of people to try their game instead of one ninja stealing all the keys.

What do you think? Bad idea? Good Idea? Typical idea of a newbie?

Actually that's not bad. Not sure how easy it would be to implement. But, I know a lot of the "ninjas" are actually bots :P

haha I know, plus its not just the bots particularly that annoy me but specifically bots that take multiple keys. I think I remember someone here who I think was a dev tried to post a whole bunch of I think humble bundle links or something similar, but I think it ended up being ninjad by 2 people and the person was quite annoyed.

Heh yeah, I believe it was "I get this call every day". Roughly 50 keys and 7 people took about 7 each

Hiding text inside the source code isn't going to stop any bot-ninja from getting all the keys.
It would require more complicated request-like system that would check if the account requested that page... which also requires you to login in order to access them, because tracking users/bots otherwise would make it almost impossible via IP, cookies or whatever.

It's do-able but it's not worth the effort when you can just write the CDkeys in a capcha fashion making them bot-proof and prevents copy-paste, must be typed in manually...

Yeah you have a good point there as well, I would also imagine it would be quite difficult to make, I'm thinking something similar to how some forums only allow you to view links or to view images when logged in but still you're right at the fact it would be difficult too add. I guess theres also the point that the forum isn't really made for key drops as well so I might be over complicating it.<br>
At the same time though I'm really hoping it would be useful. The image idea is a good one as well, I like the gif by the way :)
