So i won a giveaway today (Victim of Xen) - nothing special but i won!. So i went to the "view won" section and copy/paste the key - it was duped. So i searched the whole forum for tips what to do - > simple what i found!

  1. send a message to the giveaway creator.
  2. wait 7 days.
  3. mark as not recived.

Yeah but the guy just told me that i just want to scamm him for a 2nd key... Yeah so i said to him that he can contact steamgifts support!

But what do i do in such a case?

You did everything right. Assuming you're not lying(I have no way of knowing),wait 7 days and mark as not received.

Not nice to assume that everyone is a scamer... Then again everybody should be cautious.

I'm not SG support and I don't have experience with how to determine who's the right side; So I doubt both of you equally - imagine the the creator of that ga went here before you and wrote a thread about how he gave a working key but his winner said it doesn't work and wants another key. Would you like everyone to believe him?

My english is not as good as i wish it would be but you were the one that assumed that i might or might not be lying... Just just use facts and stuff i know for sure.
Mevermind that...
Something like this happened to me a while back also. I crated a GA with a key from tremorgames and the key i send was invalid so you know what? I sent him a second key i bought from tremorgames.

You're mixing invalid keys and duped keys. If the key was invalid, anyone could just try it(even the key sender and support) and see that it's invalid. If it's duped, you can't tell if the winner used it on some other account and nows claims that it's duped,or if it really is duped. Consider the fact that sometimes even legit stores give you duped key accidentally.. say you buy a game for $10,give it away and then the winner tells you it's duped..either the store was wrong or the winner is trying to get an extra key..It's at least worth being suspicious about.

If you bought another key for your winner, that's great, but it isn't a rule to do it. (Not everyone can spend another $10 just because their winner told them their key didn't work. Even for bundle games from tremor games, what if he doesn't have enough points?)

I do not see the point in this discussion. I got a duped key. Well sux to be me. I can accually afford to buy this game with 300TF2keys i have but i won it and I never scamed anyone nor have i the need to do so. Oh and somebody already said it was a free game.

I just try to defend my rep because i am a trader on steamtrades and outpost and any flaw on my account could mean i loose trade partners.

I don't think anyone can leave negative rep because of something you do on sg. Support would delete it if you showed them that you didn't trade with the person who wrote that. But yeah,7 days and carry on with your life :)

I wonder how support can find the truth in this cases

They can't. To prove it, giver should ask to the store where he purchased a new key (and to disable previous one as was "stolen on the process)) and give that one to winner. If giver knows someone else has used it, won't do that. If he considers the key should be not used, he will proceed and do that.

It's my word against his... but then again why would i want to scamm anyone for a bundle game?

I'm not doubting you, just stating that some people would go to great lengths for next to nothing.

this Victim of Xen key is most likely a free key from a playfire promotion?

Since there's no way to prove it one way or another giveaway just gonna get deleted. You should contact support imo.

I actually had 2 keys for a game. one i redeemed. the other i gaveaway... the first time i tried to GA the one i redeemed. he told me, and i got him the second key :)
just an example of a misunderstanding

Well there is no misunderstanding here. As i saw i this guys profile he made a GA for 3 keys today and 3 a few weeks ago so probobly he send this key to someone else and that is why my key was duped.

The only way you could prove is if you possibly took a screen recording of your Steam Library and you trying to redeem the key (assuming of course that you don't have another Steam account). It is possible that the creator may have accidentally redeemed the key or given it to another user and simply forgot to remove the key from their list. Honestly, all you can do is just report the gift as not received and wait until SteamGifts Support decides what the creator and you should do about it. Worst case scenario is that you don't get a game that was free, so really no loss there except your time.

If I were him, I'd contact whoever was responsible for the key and tell them about the issue... or tell the winner to contact them. If I had done my part and was sure the key wasn't dupped because of me, that is.
