My Steam account got hacked a few weeks ago and I saw a post that somehow faulty code got on Steamgifts. Also, I got hacked a few days after I logged into Steamgifts again after a break... I suspect that the hacker got into my account through steamgifts somehow or at least through the linking of my Steam account.

Edit 1: Well I atleast fount the issue on SteamDB - https://steamdb.info/forum/292/ - That was the problem. And a Steamgifts thread stated that those SC profiles were spreaded on SG...

Edit 2: Wow. How many people here misinterpret and jump to conclusions. I NEVER said that SG is at fault. I said that the hacker got onto my account through SG. Which is apparently possible with XSS exploits. Don't worry, I'm not after your sanctuary.

It isn't possible to have your steam acc hacked through steamgifts, as steamgifts can only see your steam profile, and cannot see your username or password.

It was possible. I even saw the post on Steamgifts by a mod.

So you are talking about a problem with Steam itself. Nothing to do with this site at all, beyond its about Steam.

No, I'm not. Read again. The thread I mentioned suggested that those SC profiles were spread and used on SG by the time I got hacked which was the time I started to come back to SG after a year. This exploit is not Steam only. SG itself is steam related. People link their account to SG.

I'm just asking is someone has any REAL insight into this matter and if it got fixed.

UH, NO

The problem was with certain code being posted on STEAM profiles. There was no SteamGifts problem, only a problem with visiting infected Steam profiles. It had as much to do with SteamGifts as it had to do with the Steam forum on Reddit. Nothing.

It was also fixed in a matter of hours.

Well, THANK YOU. That's all I wanted to hear. I guess I can sleep well now.

The exploit was about users being able to put javascript code on their steamcommunity profiles. It has nothing to do with SG. The code would only be executed if you visited that specific steam profile.

You bloody well didn't. The site doesn't work in that way, and no site support would spread such misinformation.

Do have have the steam guard activated? Or do you have your steam account linked with other sites? Scan your PC for trojans and install the latest update.

Latest update of trojans? :D

No one wants to use old trojans. They might be expired and not be effective!

As mentioned, SteamGifts gets nothing like that.

It gets the information shown here. All publicly available. The linking is only so it can confirm what games you own and prevent you from entering for titles you have.

More likely, you accepted a friend request from a dummy account and clicked a link you shouldn't have. There are unfortunately a lot of those accounts around.

You can log in into any site with Steam log in system without any problem, because owners of sites can't see any of your private info (passwords). Your credentials are secured and aren't showed to any site admin or owner you use.

Where have you seen post saying that you've got faulty code from Steamgifts?
