I read somewhere that it will come to Steam

Apparently. It was originally reported that it would be on Steam within a month after GOG, then that was struck and replaced with "at a later, undetermined date". That could mean anything, but I'd be very surprised if it didn't appear on Steam within a reasonable time.

I'm still going to get it from GOG though (personal preference).

Does it matter? GOG is vastly superior to Steam.

Surely, you must be joking.

Why do you say that?

Steam is better in every way. But I don't think they should even be compared. GOG doesn't even have a client. We can compare Steam to Origin or UPlay but not to GOG. It's just a site that sells DRM Free games. But I prefer Steam above everything else for many reasons so that's why I wrote it.

Fair pricing, DRM free, awesome community/customer support, loads of goodies with games - that's why gog will always be better than steam in my book.

I've never played System Shock. Is it something like Deus Ex GOTY?

I won't play SS2 without SS so I hope they're going to release SS1 first or both of them at the same time.

SS is soo old, i don't think that a modern system is capable to run it without help from emulation techniques (maybe people at gog are capable to make a dosbox package of it)

DOSBox packages are the GOG specialty.

Pity. Nevertheless, I want to play SS1 first. I have plenty of other games to finish so I'll wait. I guess it's a question when and not whether they're going to release SS1.

BTW, DON'T FORGET TO PATCH IT UP BEFORE YOU DIVE IN

It sounds like the GOG version might be getting its own patches, and not the New Dark patch (that fixes not only compatibility and bugs, but also upgrades the engine itself).

for people who are not afraid of playing older games, do play SS1 first, you won't regret it. I've replayed SS1 a couple of times (even more than SS2), even played the mac version on emulator. The portable dosbox version is very good.
