I read somewhere that it will come to Steam

Apparently. It was originally reported that it would be on Steam within a month after GOG, then that was struck and replaced with "at a later, undetermined date". That could mean anything, but I'd be very surprised if it didn't appear on Steam within a reasonable time.

I'm still going to get it from GOG though (personal preference).

Does it matter? GOG is vastly superior to Steam.

RPG/FPS sci-fi yeah... Some of the same themes I have understood...

It's like Bioshock except good and actually difficult.

SS is soo old, i don't think that a modern system is capable to run it without help from emulation techniques (maybe people at gog are capable to make a dosbox package of it)

It sounds like the GOG version might be getting its own patches, and not the New Dark patch (that fixes not only compatibility and bugs, but also upgrades the engine itself).
