I'm trying to do give aways for my group and to get new members, but if someone clicks my giveaway link and theyre not part of the group, theyre just given the option of the game's steam page but no actual indication of the group theyre required to join?
So there's no way for them to join the group that's required without the original group link?
I'm new here so i'm trying to figure how this stuff works.
Here's my group in question.
https://steamcommunity.com/groups/igso
https://www.steamgifts.com/group/e4LC7/igso

Let me get this straight:
So if you access it from this link
https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/1wjMq/endless-legend
you can't see the group

But if you access from this link
https://www.steamgifts.com/group/e4LC7/igso
you can see the group and eventually join the give away?

It's hard to test for me because I run the give aways haha

Step 1: Post the link of the Steam group you want to promote
Step 2: Post the link of the giveaway you want to share with the members of that specific Steam group
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit

You can only access the group giveaways if you're a member of the group. You can't see what group(s) the giveaway is restricted to without being a member of at least one of the groups for that giveaway.

Anyone can click on the SG group page and see the giveaways available within the group. You cannot join any of the giveaways without first joining the group, but you can see what the giveaways are.

Normally you would make a post in Group Recruitment, or update your existing post, with information on the new giveaways and thus entice people to join.

I hope that explains it.

Thank you for clearing all that up. It's so confusing at first but now I get the flow of things here.

Just share the link of the Steam group and the link of the giveaway, those two links will do, there's nothing complicated about it =)

I remember back when people could see what group you needed to be in. People would enter every public group they could fine, and I'd get regular requests to join a private group I had from randoms in hundreds of groups who clearly entered lots of giveaways here but had no other presence on the site.

Now that the group list is hidden, people who joined groups just for entering giveaways intended for different communities can't do that so easily.

I see, that's fair enough. I wish there was an option to turn it on though :(

You can always do group invites here anyway. I like the fact that less random people are entering stuff they weren't intended to. Seen a few people in country based Steam groups win giveaways that weren't properly marked as region locked, and so they would win a giveaway that could only be redeemed in say, Brazil or China, despite living in the US.

Sure, the giveaways should be correctly region locked, but they weren't going to be able to activate those games in the first place. They just entered those groups to see more giveaways. -_-

Yeah that's understandable. How do I do group invites in steamgifts?

For a public group, it is easy. Make a topic, link the group, link some active giveaways, and ask people to join. They will come. :P

Private groups is harder since you need to add each invited person as a friend before you can invite them to the group.

Just be sure to use Group Recruitment for the forum section.

None of the links show the group.
The first one gives the 'No permission-not member'-error.
The second one shows your entire list of GA:s, here I can find the GA and see that it is a group GA, but hovering on it shows nothing, and clicking brings me back to the 'No permission-not member'-error.

My guess is that this is done so that people who are not part of a group can't spam for entry, or mass join, only because they see a good GA - but are not really interested in the group itself

But then there's also this (just found this out the other day) where it suggests that having the game on your wishlist makes you eligible to join, even if you are not part of the group.

While you see the list of GIve aways, is there a button to go to the steam group to join the group? Under the profile picture?

Nope.
The only thing there is is the green button showing the viewer that it is in fact a group only GA, but the button only leads to the 'No permisson-not member'-page.
It's only for you, when you view your created GA:s, that link will show the group here on SG. Because you are a part of the group already.
As I said above; My guess is that this is done so that people who are not part of a group can't spam for entry, or mass join, only because they see a good GA - but are not really interested in the group itself.

Sorry man, if you want to promote your group here - up the numbers - then you gotta go the hard way. Create public GA:s where you write that the 'thanks' you want is to join your group, and put the link in the description.

EDIT:

Checked a few other GA:s I have joined where I am part of the group/a group, and it works like this.
If it is a single group GA, the green button shows the group - and I can click my way to the Steam page through there.
If it's a multi group GA, the green button shows the groups - and I can click my way to the Steam pages through there - even to the ones I am presently not part of (but I have no real incentive to do so - I can already join the GA through the group I am part of already).
If it is single or multi, but I am not part of any of the groups, the green button leads to the 'No permission-not member'-page.

So now that I have joined your group (as you posted the link above) after syncing my account I can join the GA through both links, and on your created GA page the green button shows me the group - as I am now already a part of it.

Actually your pic shows that you are wrong and Grandbinos question should be answered with "Yes", though his question got a small error:

Under the profile picture?

This should be: Under the groups picture?

Damn son, you are right!
I mistook that for the link to the GA creators steam profile.

OK then, Grandbino, don't listen to me, you CAN enter via the second link, if you are not stupid like me.... =)

Once somebody has joined a group, I believe they will also need to re-sync their Steam account with this site. You just go to your account page and there's a button for it.
