nah, Humble won't fool me again. I won't sub for whole year twice. Also Pathfinder is only $8 regional price for me, so not that big of a deal.

Well, I am still able to buy the game from Russian retailers, so yeah, not exactly my region... But still, I am able to buy and play games from Russia.

Comment has been collapsed.

I know Turkey region was cheaper than Russia for a bit, but I guess not since a week or two after they returned that preacher.

What I don't understand is why Russia region is still cheaper than Argentina or Brazil.

I won't get into per capita really, since India and China are super low (these people with computers that can play the games, will have much higher than normal) .... but even with this currency crisis in Argentina, the prices are still higher.

It is only with bundles, such as;

https://steamdb.info/bundle/1717/ or https://steamdb.info/bundle/2538/ (these bundles, probably won't be long til some minimums are instituted)

That you get some 'true' pricing. Is this all essentially due to Valve guidelines on individual game prices?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Valve is just giving advice on what prices in regions could be. Publisher decides what it really will be.

Russian PC gaming market is substantial despite the regional prices. High unit sales probably offset the difference in prices with countries like Brazil and Argentina. And there is competition from some local companies and GOG.

so, correct me if I'm wrong, just recently they offered Kingdom Come: Deliverance, highly acclaimed 60$ AAA game for subbing just for 3 months, and now we get mixed-reviews, extremelly bugged 40$ game for subbing for 12 months? Lower game price, worse reviews, 4 times the price?

Indeed. Current subscription numbers must be looking good. This is not nearly as desperate as their last offer :D

I've watched Streams and Pathfinder is very playable. Bugs yes but it looks fun and I am interested. However, yes, 12 months and Only Explorer Edition seems a little too much for me. I am still considering if this is a good comparing the highest was a $25 store credit. I'll certainly grab it if its 3 months like Kingdom Come. Hmm~

don't get me wrong - I'm not saying iot's horrible or anything (heck I have it WLed myself as I'm sucker for Pathfinder setting ;p), but it is not nearly as good of an offer. It could easilly be just monthlye Early Unlock at it's current state, or 3-months bonus, but as a reward for yearly subscription it's very bad offer.

Comment has been collapsed.

Indeed, Thank you for your input. I was thinking of getting the deal when I saw it but as I am budgeting for a new PC next week and had recently spent a few hundreds items like running shoes and weights for training. Not really keen on getting an annual. I just needed someone like you to tell me NO, its a bad offer. Hahaha I probably know it myself as I did not purchase the annual at 1st sight.

Out of Curiosity will Pathfinder: Kingmaker Royal Edition be a good deal? Pathfinder: Kingmaker Imperial Edition will be too much to offer imo. An Annual Sub will probably last me 2 years as according to my spending this year as this is the 1st yr I started Monthly.
Best Regards + Cheers, Cruse~ :D

That is actually a question I would like to ask Humble. If there's a chance for the games to be in future Monthlies than its pointless to get replica at this point. hmm~

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

even if they answered I'm not sure I would trust this answer ;p Because they already broke several promises regarding monthlies in the past. These games were all supposed to be 'not in previous bundles' (HB bundles ofc, not all bundles on the internet), yet there's been several bundled games anyway, these games were supposed to be unique to monthlies - yet we get a lot of games reoccuring in T# or T2 bundles (latewly it was Vermintide, game that was Early Unlock ending up in T2 for 4.5$... ;p), there was a case where they marketed 8 games yet bundle had 7 and a demo... and so on and on ;p

Ah yes, i forgot, I only remembered the Monthlies don't overlap. I forgot about their bundles. Indeed, Hopefully, there will be some amazing bundles soon. I guess I'll stick to Month to Month. :D

Well Kingdom Come had already had a 40% sale on Steam so they've been available for a similar price.

still - 3 months vs 12 months, mostly positive vs mixed, also I bet that due to poor sales Pathfinder is bound to get discounted quite fast anyway. If it was a monthly early unlock or 3 months bonus I'd say it's a good deal, but for 12months reward it's way below their previous offers.

4 times the commitment, not the price. You're not paying for the game, you're paying the sub that you will get with or without the game, as you get every game from it as well.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

actually both - it's not like they are getting free stuff and handing it out for free, it is a product that has it's cost and even if advertised as 'free' it's well calculated into price itself. It's like with buying a smartphone with carrier plan, it's not a free smartphone or 1$ smartphone, it's price is simply divided over all the months of subscription. If you had worse phone for 1$ in contract for 3 years and better for 1$ with contract for just 1 year, both contracts coming with same monthly payment, you'd surely consider 1st one more expensive ;p

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If it would be calculated into the price, they wouldn't have periods when they don't offer anything with a 3-6-12 month sub.
They surely try to make it into an incentive, but it's not a deal like you can only buy a year-long one now with the additional game, otherwise you're stuck with the month-by-month case. They already thrown in like 3-4 different credit-back to a yearly sub not to mention other extras. It's a logical fallacy trying to find logic, especially comparing a past, ended deal with an already existing one, in addition to theirno-logic. (game first time subs, coupons for monthlies, first time sub-coupons, money-off in high tiers, various games for various tiers without any logic besides they try everything)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Actually you ARE getting free stuff. You don't pay anything for the game and it's not included in any way in the monthly cost because the monthly cost would still be the same with or without the game. It is 100% free. Your example is completely different than the offer made here.
You are also comparing a game that's still new (came out late September and hasn't been discounted yet) to a game that's been out since February and has already been discounted several times and is currently almost 50% off.

exactly my thinking. I'm done getting fooled by HB.

Seems too many people are yearly at their taste.

Or they needed certainly to boost their number for the Christmas negotiations or end of the year marketer bonuses last time so the KCD offer, who knows. Now will have to wait that all the 3monthly KCD reach end of their sub to see a valid offer.

If you mean adding another 12 months to your remaining 6 month plan then yeah that should work. At least it did with previous promotions. But given the declining quality of Monthlies when it comes to quality Indie games I still have 6 months left from my 1 year plan I bought like 14 months ago so I think I'll pass.

130 euro in one go for a 30 euro game that's so full of bugs it should be Early Access? No thanks. I'm not giving IGN my money in advance in the hopes that they won't behave as a typical US company. Especially after that poll where they asked if we would spend more if they nerved the current monthly. Nuh-uh. Not risking it.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to end my yearly sub when it's done and just pick very few monthlies per early unlocks from then on, and this wont get me to sub another year. The games getting cheaper in regular bundles before I got time to play any doesn't help. Backlog fighting initiated.

Rather than these hit or miss random "offers" I'd prefer if they had a pool system, available to everyone, containing above average games from which one can select any game as a reward upon subscribing for a longer period (possibly with even multiple tiers of rewards). That way they'd get more coverage and happier subscribers than now.

Since I don't seem to be eligible for the promo ("You currently have an active subscription which will be billed again on December 28, 2018. Change Your Subscription Plan or Complete Checkout to Purchase a Gift Plan." - but I can't change the plan to annual because it already is annual) , (nvm I tried it and I can upgrade, but still) I have a related question:

What happens when I cancel my annual plan? I know I can pause a month, but has any of you actually tried to straight out cancel their plan? Is the money lost or is the "unused" amount returned, or does Humble implode, or something completely different?

I was wondering that for a while, because recently people who try to cancel "normal" subs are offered a month for cheaps, like $4 or so, so I'd like to buy the next month for cheaps as well, but I was afraid to push that final(?) cancel button. ;-)

Neither. You'll keep your remaining months and once the subsciption is over it won't be renewed.

Full transparancy: I haven't tried it myself but it's the only thing that makes sense.

You keep the months, and can still pause a month even after you cancel. Only thing is that you lose your perks like -10% off Store prices and some bonuses from certain bundle tiers (like 2USD extra to your Humble Store wallet if you buy 15USD- tier). Other than that no difference.

Source: My own experience with annual bundles. Also, when you press cancel annual, they will offer you some sort of deal as a last hope that you don't actually cancel it. I was offered 20 or 25 USD for Humble Store wallet, can't remember exact price, but it has an expiration date.
