Woah, that's really cool.
So... everytime you pick a direction you're supposed to stumble into a cave? I'm not really getting this.

Just bad wording or interpretation on my part I guess. You could say the "caves" are the walls.
This was very interesting. The F.A.Q. made me smile, too.

Got 4 so far, nice idea for a giveaway. P:
got a portal gun xD

Simplest way I've found to use the Portal gun is to go to a known location and shoot both portals (click orange and blue buttons next to the gun).
Then to go back to that spot: shoot one portal (orange or blue button next to gun) then click to go through the portal (enabled button next to icon of guy entering/exiting portal).
Lastly reset the portals when at your known good spot by pressing orange and blue next to the gun again.

Found 2 so far, been mapping my way since the beginning if I hadn't I think I would have given up.
EDIT: And I think I just spotted G-Man maybe?

I started mapping but then after portals it all messed up -_- mb tomorrow.

I've only came across one portal I specifically avoided once I realised what it was and put a special marker on my map for it.

Shimmering doors? Haven't encountered those, the portals I've found say the door looks "strange", not shimmering.

Well it's late and I am guessing I have only mapped like 1/5th of this maybe, to continue tomorrow then!
(Damn my Australian time zone)

Yep, just paint, though I assume you could use something else if you wanted to make it look fancier.

I used photoshop. 15 possible room combinations, each one is a different layer, all layers are the same size, I then keep the base copy of each layer as a working palette to the right of my workspace and copy and paste layers into the middle to match which room I'm in. worked pretty well and was pretty efficient since you can use keyboard shortcuts to do it all.
