It was my understanding that Deponia was more of a point/click adventure along the vein of Monkey Island, rather than a visual novel.

You are right. The correct term would be a Graphic Adventure. Point and click is a subgenre of Graphic Adventures. What I meant was a Graphic Adventure, so I will correct this information. Thank you.
