This is Rosenthaler Platz Station.
This is the U8 line toward Wittenau. The Next Station is Bernauer Str. heading toward Wittenau Station.
This is the U8 line toward Hermannstr.. The Next Station is Weinmeisterstr. heading toward Hermannstr. Station.
This station was another place I didn't do much at. However, if you left the station and traveled through where my path will take you, you'd enter a nice park that had a great Currywurst place that also sold some nice beers (Shocker). In the day time the one time I was there on a Sunday, the place was packed with people enjoying the park, sunbathing, and picnicking. It looked like a nice place to hangout, I just had closer spots. If you want to know why I came here, exit the station, and take either street north. Then cut through the park to the northern most point and cross the street.
What other people did there was quite a few things. As it is part of Mitte a slightly more expensive area, there were a ton of really nice restaurants and bars, none of which I could afford. But it still was a nice looking area.

I lived for a couple of years between Rosenthaler-Pl. and Rosa-Luxembourg. At the time - '92-'94 - it was cheap and deserted; there were only a very few restaurants, and most of the stores along Wilhelm-Pieck-Str. (now Torstr.) sold things like pet supplies, cheap clothes, and hardware. It's pretty amazing how much the whole area has changed since then.
The park you describe was pretty calm, and often attracted nude sunbathers.

Yeah, I can imagine there was a major transformation in the past 20+ years. I mean, just after the fall of the wall, not much was going to change. But given time... it's become a bustling hub of activity :D
