Description

WARNING!!

this key is for "Hearts of Iron IV: Colonel Edition (Low Violence)" which best to my understanding this is a region locked key (which I do not know what regions) and that it will have slight changes from the normal version but have no idea what exactly they are.

The changes might just be to make it complaint with German law about WWII stuff but again have no idea so be sure to check to see if you can redeem this version of the game in your region because I know the game is normally blocked in some countries because of the fact that is based in the WWII time period.

The key is from my purchase of Hearts of Iron IV: Colonial Edition on Humble Bundle a while ago and just realized that this was an unredeemed key.

I also know for a fact that the key can NOT be redeemed in the United States

So by entering this giveaway you acknowledge the fact that it is an odd version of Hearts of Iron IV: Colonial Edition and that if you can not redeem it in your region that I can re-roll for a new winner

If you have questions ask and I will do my best to answer.

Just a note and don't take it personally, but I think you should use capital letters (and punctuation) more often (beginning of sentences and names). Very odd to read texts like this.

Maybe it's this package, from Germany. It seems to have fewer DLCs, but no idea if it can be activated elsewhere.

If you already have it or it doesn't let you activate it, with the SteamDB extension you can know which package is by 'activating' the key from web.

That unfortunately does not work for me even though I have the SteamDB extension because steam just gives me the error message of "Sorry, but this product is not available for purchase in this country. Your product key has not been redeemed." which is why I know this key can not be redeemed in the United States. It is because it gives that error message why the SteamDB extension does not provide information.

That is on top of the fact that I know for a fact that the standard version of HOI4 can NOT be redeemed in Germany because it contains restricted imagery (aka a portrait of Hitler because he lead the Germans during the time period the Game portraits)

Also the Colonial edition that is normal does not come with a fair amount of the DLCs normally anyway.

The Low Violence part isn't necessarily related to WWII content but (usually) more of a general disdain for graphic violence and gore over here. (We have a Low Violence version for Team Fortress 2. TF2! no blood and the characters are presumed to be robots or something of that ilk, I forget). I ultimately depends on the content of the game. Since I saw your comment above I reckon the censorship may follow into the below category though.

WWII-related censorship tends to revolve around Nazi-imagery, as videogames are not considered 'art' and art is one of the few areas of media where the depiction of the swastika etc is permitted (e.g. caricatures in newspapers, or satire in general, are very much allowed to feature them, given their critical nature). For a videogame to show it, even if the nazis are the enemies in it, counts more as a glorification, which is something we try to avoid over here.(For example, doing the salute can get you arrested. Denying the holocaust is a crime. etc.)

In a similar school of thought, our movies get R-rated for violence, not for nudity. Outright pornography aside, most movies showing female breast etc could still get away with a 16+ rating, but bloody acts such as decapitations would warrant the 18+ for adults rating.

Hope you didn't mind me going off on that tangent, it's one of my biggest pet peeves with my country, the need to literally censor games for violence (even though we have 18+ ratings that require valid ID for games to be purchased, INCLUDING ONLINE). I don't mind not wanting to overexpose but I feel this just gives violent games the forbidden fruit appeal. And in regards to WWII censoring, it really seems a question of definition and I hope that VGs can be classified as art in the future. Because honestly, for the most part they are. I want uncensored games not because I want to praise the national socialist party but because I want to enjoy games the way they were meant to be played. I want to have the option to turn violence on or off (as some games have) rather than being forced to play censored. Thanks for coming to my TED rant. xD

That type of rant is the type of thing that I tend to do irl, and the reason why my guess about the low violence is about WWII is because their is no graphic violence just troop movements and the closest thing their is to graphic violence in the game is the dropping of nuclear bombs (which only creates the mushroom cloud but no destruction shown), limping troops walking away from a region, and troops raising animated guns at enemy troops with no bullets being fired. So for me at least their is nothing graphic about the violence.

Glad I'm not the only crazy-human- ranter then lmao. I tend to ask my friends at times to tell me when they get tired of it, but gotta vent those frustrations sometimes. Sometimes it feels like preaching to the choir but eeeeh.

While war-related things aren't my passion per se I'll still rant for the right of everyone's unimpeded enjoyment haha. Be it blood or boobies, let them play! XD

I can understand some censorship in the case of porn but in most cases I find/think that it is just over the top and not worth the effort for people to block so much of it because to me at least it does not matter as long as everyone involved is able to give consent what does it really matter?

Honestly Consent is the only thing that should matter haha. Especially when age verification has already been given.

Also to the winner let me know if the key does not work and why so I can try to narrow down who/what region can redeem the key.
