I totally agree. Just yesterday I've watched that 2 minutes trailer and I also doubt it will be close to the old ones. I was missing male roles, and... well... with Picard it was a research trip with a little fighting here and there and with Kirk it was adventuring... Janeway and Archer felt like a mixture of both and DS9 was a lot of dealing with intercultural and political issues.
Judging by the trailer Discovery seems like a mostly action driven story line with lots and lots of space battles and explosions all over... and the Klingons... damn they became ugly although it supposedly is just 10 years before TNG. It just didn't look like what I was enjoying about the other series. But we'll see. Unfortunately I'll have to wait for it for an unknown period of time since I'm in Germany and Netflix (which I don't have) would be the only option to watch it from over here.
