I am terribly sorry for the confusion here. It seems that this code has to be redeemed from the publisher. It is a long time ago since I purchased the code, and had forgotten this. I should have written this in the comment field, and I am sorry that I didn't do this. I found these instructions on the Steam forums, which should work:

How to redeem the Gold Pack key?

1. Go to http://v2.robotentertainment.com/
2. Create an account.
3. Login to your account and click on your profile.
4. Click on the "Redeem Code" tab in the top right
