Hi, if you got it from HB monthy, it's not Gold edition though

No worries -- this is definitely the gold edition. I didn't get it via Humble Choice. I've had this up on Steamtrades for about a month, but people were literally valuing it at the same tier as like Death's Gambit, so I figured there's no use in holding on to this more substantial package for no fair offers when I can get the standard edition and probably get the same offers. This is probably the most high value giveaway I can/will ever do, but I hope the game finds a good home!

Thank you for clarifying!

I redeemed the Standard Edition from Humble Choice, but still get a green Enter button on this giveaway, since Standard is missing the Expansion Pass DLC.

SG rules allow you (the giveaway creator) to say whether or not people can enter for the unowned parts of a package. So, if you'd prefer someone who doesn't even have the game yet, or similar, to win, then please check your winner prior to sending! (I'm not sure how difficult this would be to check though, with the first level of the game being normally free.)

And of course (though I won't be entering) thank you for the giveaway! :)

Ah, I didn't think about that. The Hitman model of how they're selling the games and levels is interesting, but I have to think there must be a less convoluted way of pulling it off. I didn't take this into account previously, so would it be considered in poor taste to add the requirement that people don't already have the base (paid version) of the game now that it's already well underway?

Interesting, sure. I mean, technically, Standard includes the first expansion pass (of two), but given that Hitman only has a couple of episodes without the passes, it'd probably be more natural to consider than as "Base Content Pass" and "Expansion Pass", respectively. So yeah, as you said, it could be less convoluted- or at least, less misleading. :P

Heck, even the listing for Gold seems confused about it:

Buy HITMAN 2 - Gold Edition
Includes: Expansions 1 & 2, and exclusive in-game items.

HITMAN 2 - Gold Edition is the ultimate version of the game and includes all available content from the Standard Edition and the Expansion Pass.

:P

so would it be considered in poor taste to add the requirement that people don't already have the base (paid version) of the game now that it's already well underway?

This is one of those circumstances where, natively, both sides can be considered to have some level of expectations and obligations, rather than anything falling primarily just to one side.

Thereby, it's only in poor taste in circumstances where there's a pre-existing expectation that the GA creator wouldn't reroll. For example, if a base game had been previously free or low-tier-bundled, then entrants can have an expectation that if nothing is mentioned, the GA creator is fine with them entering for that game's DLCs alone.

Otherwise- that is to say, as with a circumstance like this- it'd be more natural for entrants to ask before entering (y'know, assuming they're entering properly, rather than by using scripts). It's definitely not something you'd need to feel bad about, at least. Nevermind that it's a public giveaway, which isn't exactly known for having users who read the descriptions to begin with. >.>

Haha, yeah, I've tried wrapping my head around the concept since they rolled it out in the rebooted series. The idea of truly episodic gaming is a perfect fit for a game like this where each mission is so densely packed and replayable, but sheesh. Then add to that the ability to play Hitman 1 games in Hitman 2, with whatever improvements Hitman 2 brings to the table in terms of graphical polish and gameplay tweaks, and you've got one hell of a confusing, albeit intriguing, mess in your hands.

I appreciate the explanation. I didn't quite grasp the scope of the site at first. In retrospect, I probably should have eased into this instead of going in guns blazing -- a relatively rare giveaway like this seems like it would have been a better fit for a closed group where it'd be sure to find a good home. Since I didn't put up a disclaimer earlier, I'd be hesitant to reroll, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it ends up with a human being with an actual interest in the full package, but I'll take it as a learning experience either way.

Well, invested points [by entrants] refund on deletion now, so you could always delete it (without concern over troubling others), if you were dissatisfied enough. Moreover, so long as there's no sign of site abuse/exploitation, staff is pretty open to providing additional giveaway slots upon request, so you don't have to worry about the lost giveaway slot too much, either (as you can just request more if you end up with an event/etc you're planning which requires more than you have).

And yeah- having had to deal with all sorts of nonsense related to modern DLC practices, across numerous games, I'm always especially appreciative of any chances at "complete editions". ^.^
