Description

β€œOnly when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money.”

― Cree Indian Prophecy

Sort of! The first ones to use that phrasing were Greeenpeace. Quote Investigator suggests that two different Native Americans (not Cree, but from the Abenaki and the Mohawk) said similar things on record, though.

But here's a fun environmental fact for y'all from the UN's IPCC report on climate change: even if we significantly lower current greenhouse gas emission, at rates considered politically impossible, we're still going to kill off 70-90% of our coral reefs by 2050.
