Let's try another one shall we?

It was during the Cold War. I was in a laboratory. Laboratories in Russia would never be favorable under any circumstances, to anyone. It seemed as though the walls were once a brilliant white. Now paint flecks fluttered down as I passed. It was once probably breathable in here. But the air was permeated with a cold, dank, and metallic odor that could not be kept out by my mask. The scientists had used many test subjects for their experiments. So hopeful were they, for the day they would be rewarded for their services and freedom. They never, ever left. They were still contained in this prison, keeping me company, driving me to insanity.

Hahaha I love short stories.
