yeah that genuinely scared me because i thought i was gonna get scammed so i've learnt not to have keys in the giveaways from now on.

I've decided to let the giveaway maker give a reason before speculating, but I think what happened here is a case of lack of communication, as checking the winner's comments, it seems like the giveaway creator tried to reach out, but got no response plus on the Elden Ring giveaway, there's no comment from the winner saying "oh I didn't get my key!", or the winner went to sell the key and marked as not received and put blame on the giveaway creator.

i messaged him on steam, and he said it was region locked, and i thought at the time that he was lying, so i quickly got someone else to redeem it out of panic, and only just now did i check that key was indeed region locked. so i made a big mistake with that one.

No biggie. He also won Cyberpunk 2077 some time ago and played only 2.8 hours. Consider creating these nice giveaways for groups like Playing Appreciated to avoid bots, resellers and collectors who are not going to play the games.

Actually not. To enter the group you must complete only one game you previously won and haven't played yet. And then if you win something from that group you must play it within one month. But if you don't really like the game - you don't have to force yourself.
"For games that are longer than 10 hours, playing it at least 5 hours would be sufficient (if you then still don't like the game, so be it and we won't make you play it any longer)."
