[warning: my English is getting worse and worse :D]
Lately I asked about your thoughts on post-apocalypse games and stuff, so here goes some classic. I will send gift via email, so keep it updated.
Let me introduce Charlie - 3 months old black lab puppy. I adopted her 2 weeks ago. When I was writing this description, she:
1) tried to make friends with our cats (and failed),
2) convinced me to play with her,
3) played alone with her 6 different toys,
4) brought me her bowl,
5) had a little fight with my other dog,
Adopt animals. There's nothing more genuine than a glance of an animal that was rescued from a shelter. Here's the proof: Bajka & Klara. Sadly, Klara, shepherd-mix doggy on the right, passed away in February. My family and I needed some time and now we have this little black devil ^^
Anyway, good luck and have fun! :)
EDIT: That's really great to hear that so many of you guys have adopted/rescued animals! Such thing is pretty uncommon here where I live (Poland), and so is being responsible for animals. Many people treat their dogs or cats like temporary toys, but now reading your comments and stories about your pets is heart-warming for me :)

I have thought about adopting a cat from the shelter. Not yet though, my cat is still alive, very playful and like a small kitten eventhough she is 14 years old. But maybe after she passes away.

Almost all our pets have been rescues/adoptions, and I wouldn't have it any other way, sure there may be quirks here and there but the feelings can definitely be worth it.

That's a beautiful dog right there. I'm a big supporter of rescue shelters and pet adoption centres as well, and try to volunteer at least once a year at one. Least I could do after gaining all my cats from such places.

Adorable!!
Two of my dogs, were rescued from the streets. Not even shelter, but literally we saw them and were gonna find them a home... but ended up adopting them. No regrets! They live a very loved and happy life, especially healthy (and chubby :P ).
Think I've told the story of one of them many times already... 13 years ago, me and my family were having a picnic at the nearby lake. some guys arrived on a truck, let their dog out (a beautiful mixed dog, chocolate-brown fur), waved their hands goodbye and laughed in quite a cruel way, then while the dog was chasing some bird around, the guys got back on their truck and left. Just like that. They purposefully let the dog there. She turned to look for them.. and was sad. Came to us for some food, and after a little convincing my mom, we took her home and named her Mousse (because of her fur). Turns out the dog was pregnant, probably why she was abandoned, and she had 4 adorable puppies in my house. We found a home for them all, except for the little blondie one that we adopted as well. Mousse died last year, due to internal cancer that was too spread already; she lived a happy and loved life til the end.
The other dogs are a 5y/o male black lab (was a gift for my sister), and a puppy that we rescued around january this year, when she was barely a month old and was looking for food and water in the streets near my house. Was hard to resist the urge to help such a poor cutie. We tried to bring her mother too, but she ran away scared and we couldn't find her again; i hope she's okay :/
