Which is your take on unreliable narrators, be it in novels, films or videogames? Are they interesting, cheap, a good idea but often abused...?

A wonderful game I'd love to play, thanks a lot!

I love unreliable narrators. Especially when they're not just unreliable for the hell of it -- they could just be saying their opinion, and it's enough to make them 'unreliable' because it taints the reader's view of something which might be considered differently by the rest of the people in the novel.

They can also lie. I think it feels natural, like having someone real tell you a story (they're not gonna tell you everything come on!). So long as it's not for some cheap, 'they're actually the antagonist, why not,' at the end of it.

You mean, like in the (probably) best-known case of an unreliable narrator in a novel? ;)

Hmm, they add to the story for sure. Love me some cheeky narrator. :P

If this concept is skillfully used by the author, it's definitely good. I like how it looks, for example, in Fight Club or Forrest Gump,

If it's for comedic purposes that compliments the media then I don't mind them. They add to the atmosphere. Me, Myself, and I for instance is hilarious on its own but the narrator adds to it.
