Somehow, suddenly, August is rolling to a close. This happens every year: not only the actual end of August, but also my curious surprise that we've arrived here already. How did this happen? Shouldn't there have been a memo?

I didn't go to the beach this summer (I'm not supposed to, really, for medical reasons). I did do a couple of shows, and I spent time with friends and fellow artists. Saw movies, thought about things. It was a good summer, all in all, despite the world around us.

The most flagrant heat is probably behind us, at last. It has been temperate this week, and it might keep up that way for a time, and that is a real relief. I'm on a break between jobs, trying to score some background work to tide me over since, well, it's always nice to be able to pay the bills.
