I was wondering what everyone's personal Game Of The Year is this year. For me it's between three games that all come very close to the award. But the winner for me is clearly deserving of the award.

GOTY: Ori and the blind forest

Runners up-

  • Life is strange
  • Evoland 2

Whats your GOTY and/or close runners up to the award?

Having the damnedest time remembering which games I played this year vs. which got played earlier years... not too many actually from this year b/c my comp's too old now to run the new AAA stuff I want bad like Witcher 3 or Fallout 4. But I think I finally got around to Mass Effect games this year, loved those (even 3). Really dug Shadowrun: Hong Kong. Played Sleeping Dogs recently, quite enjoyed that despite predictable main story. Tales from the Borderlands was dope (huge BL fan, replayed BL 2 for 11th and 12th times this year plus some of the DLC again). Played Divinity: Original Sin this year, that was really cool.

Ah I dunno, that's probably enough to list anyway.

HuniePop. I'm not kidding, I found it very enjoyable. Both my mind and my body seemed to enjoy it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Life is Strange. Even considering the last episode, it was an amazing experience overall.

GOTY 2015:

  1. Witcher 3 - The scope of that game is mind blowing, the story seems unique and amazing and the combat looks really great too.
  2. Fallout 4 - Even if it's Fallout 3.5, it looks really fun and hopefully it will get better with patches and mods.
  3. Metal Gear Solid 5 - Looks really entertaining and fun, although a little repetitive and the ending falls flat since Konami are assholes.

Best games that I played during 2015:

  1. Witcher 1 - It absorbed me, amazing for an "indie" from 2007 and first CD Projeckt game
  2. Shadow of Mordor - The action of this game is pure genius, tons of fun! I still need to finish it tho
  3. Dark Souls 2 - I hated DS1, give it a try to this one after winning it and found the satisfaction of conquering some really tough scenarios, still I got frustrated and lost thousands of souls. Might get the resolve to finish it on 2016.

Honorable mention:

Heroes of the Storm - It has sucked my time big time. On week days that I have just 1 or 2h for gaming we play it with one of my best friends, it's really addictive and varied, I love it.

I was almost about to say "the last tinker: city of colors," but that one came out last year. just didnt actually play it until this year. oh well, its still last years GOTY to me. ^^

as for this year, my GOTY would definitely be "SOMA." loved the philosophical sci-fi aspects of it, the storytelling and voice acting were great, and the game was frictional's scariest work yet. runners-up include "ori and the blind forest," "9 clues 2: the ward," "MANOS: the hands of fate director's cut," and "cat goes fishing"

Rediscovered: Star Trek Online

Mount&Blade Warband:Viking Conquest Reforged, for the storyline campaign alone. Much as I love the open-world approach of WB, the real-world lore (drawn at least in part from the Icelandic Sagas) and attention to historical detail (certainly drawn from the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle of the 9th century)might make the Venerable Bede himself envious.

I forgot The Wolf Among Us, new to me this year. Fantastic storytelling.
