You could still do that. With SteamTradeMatcher (although limited by now) and ASF bots it's pretty easy and fast. However, prices for cards usually go down fast.

I have been meaning to get into all that with the bots and STM because I'd love to get more badges but I don't have much time to spend on it but I also didn't really find the time to get into all that, find out how it works and when I should get into it.

STM is "dead" for a loooooong time now.

I think I remember that bot from STM, but it will take 'a while' before I can trade. Started scanning 1h ago and we are at bot 3 of 388. Let's hope it shows up early. lol
btw do you know if it is save to use the 'Offer a trade for all' option when you have 100+ trades available? Will Steam get mad at me? Will the script crash?

I never use that option, sorry :-/
I will always use Filters, trade with Botalogical, uncheck the games I traded with that Bot and afterwards, I trade with the next Bot who has the most cards of the games that are still checked. Rinse and repeat, profit ^^
Edit: Oh, but one thing I CAN answer: Steam will not get mad at you because with this script, you are trading offline, so to say. The actual trading is via Steam, yes, but the scanning is done locally. So there should be no problems regarding any rate limitations that are put up via Valve.
This is the biggest pro of that script compared to STM.
P.S.: I'm also doing a scan at the moment. "Getting our data for badge 2390 of 6925". It will take me a while... xD

Hey in regards t the ASF STM script (v3.5) is there anyway to make it only use cards that are "live" tradeable as when i ran it, it showed me a number of trades but most couldn't be completed because the cards in question (summer ones) were not tradeable till the 30/6/24

I am not the author of the mentioned script, so I don't know everything. But I would say no, there is no way to do that. I guess the script checks if there are doubles and what cards can be exchanged and not each individual item for a trade hold, since that would be too complicated, needs your account data and would take even longer than it already does.
So the short answer is: In my humble opinion, no :)

I just passively get card sets as I can, and sell off event cards ASAP for wallet funds.

- there is a whole set of wallpapers, emoticons with the summer sale theme.
When i was heavy into summer badge crafting (with making other countless badges during sale for more summer cards + auto queue botting with different unlocked accounts) i always had the whole set and countless duplicates of these crafting rewards. they sell really low and bad, because there are way too much in the store, but they gave a good amount of gems.

Inflation must be at an all time high, last year you could trade a key for 17-18 badge sets, 20-21 in 2022 and now you would be hard pressed to find lvl up service higher than 8, despite keys costing the same at 1.5$. Heck, even steam trading cards are just more dearer, usually if you used ASF and get 3 cards per game, you could finish the set for less than 15c but nowadays to to get a full set you'd be spending 25c at roughly 7-9c a card when they would be 3-5c.
If you have been banking sets throughout the year, start crafting, quicksell the mystery cards and buyback the mystery cards when they crash to 4c after 2 weeks into the summer sale.

Yup, it's the same each year. But only for summer and winter sales, the two main ones, the rest of the events during the year only get daily stickers or some other random thing.
I quite literally only craft badges when these special cards are dropping :P

When crafting a badge, I now got a mystery card that I can't traid for one week. Why is that?

You should be able to trade those cards now, but only if you don't have a trade hold that lasts beyond Thursday. That's because the cards will be transformed into Summer Sale cards when the sale starts on Thursday. Those sale cards can then be traded even with a 15 day trade hold.

Ah yes that's the reason, thank you, one of the cards I used was just bought today. I crafted a different badge already yesterday and those resulting items were tradeable immediately, but the difference was that the cards used to craft were all already in my inventory for months.
