Hello !
I'm opening this Discussion to promote my new Greenlight submission.
I'm not realy comfortable with this practice, but if i want my game to be one day Greenlit, i have to do it.

Here is my Greenlight page : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=848559225
I would be realy thanksful if you take the time to look at it.

My game is in a realy early stage at the moment. I submit it early on Greenlight so it will be faster to release it once it's finished (it will take a lot of time !).
It's not realy good looking at the moment, but i will improve that realy soon (since greenlight votes are based on screenshot and footage).
If you also have time, any critiscism would be appreciated. I need to know what people first think when they see my greenlight page, so i can modify my game to improve positive vote ratio.

I'm working realy hard to reach my dream : get my own game on steam !
If by any chance, one day i do reach this goal, i promise to give thousands of keys on steamgifts :D

PS: i have no idea if this kind of post is tolerated. If it is not, i'm sorry and i will not do it again.

Hey man just to let you know (idk if this post is tolerated or okay)

But you don't need the c in required.

Also another suggestion is maybe give it a bit more tuning and the like. Remember people will judge your game based off the screenshots and (possibly) the description. If you make a bad first impression it may be hard to bounce back from it without a lot of followers and a stroke of luck (Like what Slain got when it went from bad to good.) I do wish you luck though man.

Thank you for your reply, and thanks for the "requiered" spelling (english is not my first language).
I know that the game should look good on screenshots for positive vote. I think i'll focus my work on more fancy graphics and update my greenlight page as i add visual improvements.
You're the first person wishing me good luck, thank you again (the few 'critiscisms' i got so far just say "pff, it's shit you so bad").

Yeah criticism is a lot more than just saying "Oh it's shit." You need to offer ways to improve or else it's just bashing ideas rather than criticizing.

I'm aware that it's still very early in development, so take my feedback with a grain of salt; I'm no developer and don't know the first thing about building a game. However, I know about playing them and I thought that maybe you'd like some semi-constructive critics if you want to improve your game. :P

The game doesn't look creative or different from any other 3D top down shooter. Graphics aside (graphics are the least of your concern, that can be worked on later), the gameplay doesn't seem to be grabbing my attention enough for me to want it - I'd probably play the game half an hour before dropping it.

With that said, this game looks muuuuch better than 90% of the shit that gets Greenlit (looking at you, DigitalHomicide (rip)) and I'm confident that you could improve on what you already have in order to achieve something which will gain more attention. My suggestion is to work on the gameplay and mechanics the most, since the graphics, although necessary, are not the most important detail in a game, for me at least. I play games not for the graphics but for the story and gameplay. Since a story wouldn't work too well here, gameplay is key.

Again, I don't know the first thing about game development so don't mind my comment too much. If it inspires you to do more, then that's good. If not, then it doesn't matter much. ^^

Thanks for your reply !
I agree with you that gameplay is the most important, but the first impression is based on screenshots, where gameplay is hard to see.
Anyways, i plan to add a lot of "powerups", they are collectible items giving varied bonus. I should probably work on crazy and visualy impressive powerup to appeal the players. This thing is why The Binding Of Isaac is so good, and i want something like this for my game.
Thanks for remind me to show more this aspect of the game, for me it was an obvious addition to the game.

The Binding of Isaac is definitely a good example. Loooots of powerups/modifiers, interesting bosses...
You seem to know where you're going with this. I'll just wish you luck and prosperity with your game. :D

It's recommended to keep your first game simple (simple =\= trashy)
This way you can learn from your mistake and you won't burn your best ideas

Hello,
Its looks decent, compared to some previously bundled not greenlit-yet games.
Some elements like boss fighting in your video and capture zones are interesting.
Careful about not being too repetitive across levels.
Until you finish, you will probably get greenlit.
Maybe release it in closed beta/alpha with NDA so you can get some feedback and make incremental improvements.
Good luck :-)

Thank you for your encouragements !
Maybe i'll post a link to a stand-alone alpha on this forum when the game will have enough content to be a minimum enjoyable.

Which game engine are you using ?
I'd try to play with light and use lowpoly style, with a little effort you can reach nice results
lowpoly stuff is easy to create, rig and animate with blender.

Also how does the greenlight pass work ? I'll buy it too, but I'm not entirely sure if I should open a new account or a can buy it with mine and add it to a second one.
(I want to use it on an "official" account)

gl, upvoted :3

I'm using Unity. It is my first with a game engine, i already made mini-games for my own pleasure in other languages (Java, C), but it's the first game i make with a commercial goal.
I don't use any external modeling program. I do everything with Unity, so i'm limited to cubes, capsules, cylinders and planes (challenge ! xD).

I think the greenlight pass only work for an account (i'm not sure), but i know you can link multiple accounts to a greenlight project. But if you need to buy it 2 times, it begin to hurts xD
Personally, i bought it on my personal account. I don't feel the need for an "official" account.

Ah nice, I'm using Unity too, I love it :3
Are you using the personal edition too ? (that splash screen is ugly af :)

Anyway at a certain point you'll need some assets, I suggest you to try blender, you can find it on steam too, it's free for commercial use too. The first impact is terrible, but after a few hours it gets better, in case you are interested basic modelling
basic rigging basic animating
