half life platinum pack...and it says complimentary..but trust me i bought it...it was from a key on an actual cd..remember those? it contained hl..counter-strike..blue shitft and opposing force. apparently at the time it was accepted to use the key from the cd booklet..although now it's not even the right format.

Half-Life Platinum Pack (Free) ... by me too ... think, it`s from cd-key anno 1998 ... had half-life before steam still played and tested under wonid ... at the time there were still funny mods like counter-stike, day of defeat, firearms and more ... sorry my bad english ... greets from germany :)

From the HL-CD of 1998 only had to install the game and join a server (among WONID). The key from the CD, I could enter 2003 in Steam. That will probably "half life platinum pack" which have been. Only then followed Orange Box & Co by me ... oh my bad english ... sorry

I still have that disk somewhere... I remember not having to install steam for it so I never did, but that only let me play Half Life or Counter Strike...it wasn't until I finally got round to making a steam account and adding the key to it that I actually got to play Blue Shift etc.

Counter-Strike: Source was the first game I bought. In that period I was playing cod4 and Counter-Strike: Source seemed a nice a fps to me(i never had played it for real) but after buying it and testing it i didn't liked the game. I almost never played to it, most of the hours I have on steam was played by a friend of mine...

What's the first entry?
Mine is:
May 20, 2010 Portal - Complimentary (Opt In)
They had a free week of Portal. Everyone who downloaded Portal for free that week got to keep the full game for free, forever.
My first purchase through Steam was The Orange Box. I saw it on sale and remembered my little brother (divorced family, bleh) saying that he played a lot of Half-Life before he joined the US Army. I figured I should see what all the hype is about.
Feel free to tell everyone a little bit about that first entry.
