Hey y'all, jumped into the 4K gaming realm not too long ago with my first 4K monitor and while (some) games play smoothly, and the Shadowplay-recorded videos play smoothly on my computer, once they're on YouTube they're super choppy and it doesn't seem to be bandwidth-related as it's well-buffered, and I have a fast connection. My CPU looks pegged while I'm trying to play it, so I'm hoping the issue is on my end as a browser issue or something but I'm hoping to poll the community to see if it's just me and I should keep uploading them, or if I'm going to be uploading videos that no one can watch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Seems to be something with my computer not being able to play it well through either browser I have available (Edge/Chrome). Plays fine on my computer before I upload it, and the transcoded version (lowered to 10Mbps from 50Mbps) plays fine after downloading it back from YouTube. So... I guess I'm not going to worry about it, as it will surely get better and be watchable eventually.

Thanks to everyone for the input, here is the giveaway I had previously hidden which got no entries :D

Interesting idea, I had smooth playback before uploading the video but I haven't tried to download the post-transcoded file back from YouTube and see if that plays back poorly. I'll give that a go too and see how it differs from the original, thanks for the feedback!

Thanks again for the idea, it led me to the conclusion (after re-downloading it) that the content of the video wasn't altered and I was able to play the transcoded version fine, so it's presumably something with the web player that I can figure out at my leisure (never) without worrying that my videos are getting screwed up.

On 4K TV it runs smoothly. I don't have a 4K monitor though to compare.

Great news, thanks! I assume it was playing in 4K and not 1080/1440?

No 4k monitor but chances are good it's a browser issue, especially so if they play fine on a standalone player. Try another browser, full screen and not. If that doesn't do it then try hosting the video elsewhere and see if youtube compression might be doing something to the file.

Tried Chrome & Edge both of which had the same problem; after downloading it and playing it with no issues though, I'm going to assume it's something with the YT web player or something on my computer that's misconfigured that both browsers share.

Either way so long as my videos aren't getting completely screwed up I'm OK with it, thanks for the ideas :)
