i don't think i heard that lately in SG

You would be lying though if it actually wasn't a good game.

Yeah, because no one ever tells a white lie when it is appropriate and the situation calls for it.
I should also point out that athletes do this every day. It's called sportsmanship, and those who don't exercise it or scoff it are looked down upon. And it is regardless of whether you personally think it was a good game or not. Not only is it common courtesy, it is etiquette.

I only type gg when the enemy wins a very close match. No when my team win, not when teh match is one sided.

Occasionally, if either the game is fun or the opponents are playing really well.

Not big on multi player, and I've mostly used the term when playing online poker.
Wouldn't only use it when it's been a good game, but also when I've spent a decent amount of time at that table with the other players, particularly if there's enjoyable chat going on. It's kind of like "thanks for the time we spent together" when I say it like that. It's rare I'd say it If I busted out after just a few hands, or if someone else did unless they said it first and then I might reply in kind.

I generally did unless the person had quit during, cause that's just bullshit

Depends on the case but I usually thank for good game. I do not use the abbreviations, however. Also, it is irritating for me when people use easy/ez. It you win by a stomp, there is no need to insult opponents. If you win by hard struggle, it doesn't work as ironic statement because you are not funny. At all.

Do you say GG even if it's not?
Of course not. That's deeply insulting to everyone involved. I get really ticked off when someone does that, because it's clearly meant sarcastically, or done insincerely [typically out of inane habit].
(Though of late, my experiences lean toward the former, which makes me even less tolerant of the latter :X)
Or put in SG terms, it's someone doing a generic thank you when you asked them not to, and typically doing so while attaching a gif of someone's raised middle finger. You understand there's the potential for [carelessly presented] sincerity, but it seems more likely they're disregarding your outlook or even being deliberate jackasses. :P
I started online gaming in the early 90s, and back then I was far more familiar with "Thanks for the match" and "Well played". I didn't see GG pop up until well later, and then it seemed to become a substitute for the latter. I realize some use it as a substitute for the former, but pah, that's simply not what the phrasing indicates.
Rather, I use the phrases only as their literal meanings would suggest they be used:
I use 'gg' when everyone in a match clearly did their best, no matter how good or bad that performance was [Ed. Clarification below]. It's an acknowledgement that the match was fair [no server issues], and the players approached it respectfully. In other words, a good game.
If they play well, I still use wp, and bloody heck, if I feel the need to acknowledge the match despite issues, then I'll still use tyftm [though I always spell both of those out when there's not risk of them up and leaving immediately].
But yeah, GG? Now that it's associated with "lolol gg" mindsets, it's only all the more sarcastic in implied intent. There's simply no reason to write it when there could be doubt in someone else's mind, not when there's other phrases that accomplish the same thing- and heck, have been around longer.
The desire for brevity is never an excuse for disregard, or promoting miscommunication.
..:glances up: I mean, not that I really know what this "brevity" thing is, but.. :X

Actually, I should note that the "no matter how good or bad the match was" bit isn't entirely accurate. If the other side got curbstomped, I'll switch to "Thanks for the match," or make sure to say something validating instead, like "That last play was fantastic!" or "That triple kill was impressive!". Y'know, indicate why "gg" could be used, rather than leave things to miscommunication.
Likewise, if the losing side says gg first, then I feel it's okay to reply with that [for a match deserving of it], since then it's an acknowledgement of sincerity.

I sometimes do when the game was shit, but the people were still nice.

27 if it was a stupid win
20 middle of the match, or sometimes 10
15 if seeing enemies nearby
22 if enemy attacking, or 21/23 if attacking
30 & 11 just for laughs.
