Hi guys!
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Bundle have a nice discount (75%, 15€ in my region). I like the Marvel characters, the comics (mostly Spiderman comics) and the movies, but I haven't tried these games and I would happy to know the opinion of the Steamgifts people.
What are the pros and cons of these games? Would this be a good buy?

Thanks!

Should I buy Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Bundle? (15€)

View Results
Sure!
Nope!

Seems keybindings are almost nonexistent and no controller support for the first game based on Steam reviews. I didn't look at the reviews for the sequel. 15 Euro is alright I guess.

The game was fun when I played it co-op on Xbox 360 years back, but from what I am reading the co-op is broken now so I would personally pass.

I've had a lot of fun with the games on my trusty Xbox 360. But these PC re-releases were total shitports at launch.

Has anyone checked if control issues and missing DLC were ever sorted out since then?

I think the DLC issues were fixed when the uproar got pretty loud. There was even an online petition going around. Within a few days they released a memo saying all DLCs would now be included. With that said, they remain in my "Of Course I'll Get to this Game Before I Die" folder.

Do they seriously warn about refunds? Either they have a clear limit or they can have demo versions instead. Didn't even know they had a limit...

Funny I thought that was precisely what refunds were for. How else can you tell if you like a game other than playing it?
I got 3 refunds off my 10 buys from the last sale so I guess I'm one refund away from a warning lol
Live and learn, right?

I played the games on Xbox 360. The first game felt rather dated, and didn't really click. The second game, on the other hand, was great fun in co-op. I don't know that I'd recommend it for a singleplayer experience, but I would absolutely recommend the bundle based on the second game for couch co-op.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm always looking for good couch co-op.

I played the first game when it first came out, and wasn't impressed.

I've played both games, although I played the first one on PS2 and Wii, the first game is amazing to be honest, it's probably the best game in the genre right behind X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse. Not sure how much the PC port was upgraded and patched between the release and now, the game is amazing, the port maybe not quite that much, but it's probably been fixed, can't really say.

As for the second game, I did play the Wii version and the PC port. The Wii version was meh at best, and the PC port is...decent. The game is not as good as the first one, even with the new ally combo powers and the new characters, it's not that great, not bad either, but not great. As for the technical issues on the PC port, it didn't crash on me more than 2 or 3 times during the duration of the campaign. It had some audio glitches that AFAIK were patched to a degree, not sure if 100% though.

As for both games, last time I checked there weren't any keybinding options and video settings were almost useless. If you plan on playing with an Xbox 360 controller then there should be no issues whatsoever. I think some issues were experienced with Xbox One controllers, although I'm not sure, and PS controllers were kind of hard to make them work with both games. As for the Steam controller, I have no idea lol

TL;DR: If you plan on playing with someone else, buy both. If not, just buy MUA 1. You will encounter little glitches here and there, nothing too bad.

The original is a great rpg, especially if you play it with a friend, I do not know about the sequel, I haven't played

I love these games, X-Men Legends too. I have MUA 1 and X-Men Legends 2 on my shelf, old box versions. I'd buy that bundle in an instant... but I heard that online co-op play is, well, unplayable. I can't play the oldies online cause GameSpy is dead, and the new edition is too buggy :/

I played the first one on Wii back when it came out and me and my friends binged hard on it. We ended up calling our group of heroes the "Red Boot Society" because everyone we played happened to wear red boots lol. Really enjoyed the game, the Wii controls were kinda neat from what I remember too. I did play it on PC years later and seem to recall it not being as fun as it was when I had it on Wii, not sure if it was poor controller support or what because I didn't really put much time into it (could also have been that I'd already played like 300 hours).

I seem to recall there being a free to play MMO that was pretty much the same as the Ultimate Alliance/X-Men Legends game on Steam, but I can't find it so I'm assuming that it probably died like a lot of MMOs do. Unfortunate that markets become so saturated that somewhat decent games don't stand a chance.

So there is no way to buy them?

Nope, seems they went "poof" and disappeared in a cloud of magic smoke generated by licensing deals expiring again.

So many Activision games suddenly disappear from the store. Blur , James Bond, Spiderman, Deadpool . Now this.

Transformers games too.. The pattern is pretty clear though:

With the exception of Blur, they're all games based on licensed properties. And while Activision is one of the few companies that actually publishes licensed games that are worth playing (well, a few duds excepted), they also a) do not succesfully negiotate getting perpetual licenses and b) cheap out on renewing the licenses when they've got enough cash from the games.

Was there any info that they will disappear after the sale? I'd buy it if I knew abou that... Info would probably boost sales too.

I haven't seen any announcements or anything this time around. If I'd known up front that they would disappear, I also might have picked them up. 15 bucks seemed like a fair price even if the port was bad.
