Still undecided if this game is straightforward sacrilegious or explores the deeply traumatized child unconsciousness.

It's funny how some christians were upset about Bioshock infinite because of some minor thing, yet noone got upset about The binding of Isaac even though it's probably the most disgusting and blasphemous thing ever made, at least from a wacky christian point of view :D. I guess it's the funny cartoonish graphics that kinda camouflage all the abortion, death and gore, satanic imagery, and child abuse :D.

Bible, the "holy" book christians love so much is filled with death, gore, child abuse and abortions. Just as god asked isaac's mom to kill him, he asked Abraham in bible to kill his only son (who was also named Isaac). It would be very hypocritical for christians to hate on The Binding of Isaac.

I guess you mean anti-religious games?

Or games that, no matter what the context, reference religious themes in some form?

Obviously english isn't their first language. They only specified the game must feature religion, and cited a comedic beat-em-up.
Anti-religious games sounds more like games that centrally mock religion rather than simply using it for references.

Diablo has a nice aspect of religion. Especially if You want to fight with demons, Baal etc.

It started off good. The art is nice, the story was very nice, the sounds were cool, there were some game-play surprises as well. But at some point the whole religious thing started to rear it's head, not against religion, but it was so blatant and lame that it felt more like door to door bible seller (the other reviews on steam I think talk about the same thing). Primordia, for example, had really subtle and cool religious undertone.
Overall it's a nice game, but the other half of the game left me with some bitter taste sadly

Hmm. Well that shouldn't be too much to handle for me considering I went to Catholic school as a kid so I doubt it could be worse than that XD. Thanks for answering :D.

A case could be made for Civilization 5.. seeing as you have to choose a religion, then adopt various parts of its teachings and beliefs, send missionaries out to convert other cities, etc.

Was going to say Adam's Venture episodes 1, 2 and 3 but it appears they were removed from Steam yesterday funnily enough. Adam's Venture: Chronicles is out on Monday apparently, I think it's just the 3 episodes in 1 package but I'mn not 100% certain.
