[Recurring subscription] ๐ŸŽถ Fast away the old year passes, Fa la la la la la la la / I bet Iโ€™ll forget to pause again, bah humbug! ๐ŸŽถ
[New subscription] What a holly jolly lineup! I don't know if there'll be snow this year, but Iโ€™ll certainly be staying in, playing these.
[Maybe subscribe] Soon it will be autocharge day and I have to make up my mind before that!
[Pause] ๐ŸŽถ Here comes Humble Choice Pause, here comes Humble Choice Pause / Right down IGN laneโ€ฆ ๐ŸŽถ
[Cancelling / will not buy] ๐ŸŽถ I'm dreaming of a Good Bundle / Just like the ones I used to knowโ€ฆ ๐ŸŽถ
[Complaint] If you have the $6 / month deal, then this bundle is amazing. If youโ€™re unlucky enough to pay $12 or moreโ€ฆ then I feel sorry for you, bro. These bundles arenโ€™t getting better, plus some months theyโ€™re even down 2 games. I heard there's even people subscribed for $20!

Beyond The Wire needs more player! :)

Terrible for me, all their "headliners" are on my ignore list. Easy skip, the ones I'm interested in will get in a trade or cheaply on key sites.

So you get the same notification as a ROW purchase, which indicates you get a ROW key as well.
Any chance of knowing the exact Sub ID you got?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sorry, how do I find that? I didn't use the code if I need to have done that.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you already have the game, then ASF would tell you the sub id when you try to redeem the key (activating it will fail as long as you own the exact contents of the package).
If you don't already own the game, then activating the key is the only way to see the SubID (also requires having either ASF installed, or the SteamDB extension that highlights the owned packages).

Am on the final month of the 3-month $6 deal and I finally get a wishlisted game out of these 3 months, Partisans 1941, hooray!

Maneater, Endzone, Greak, and Voidigo look like games I'd at least attempt to play too.

Greak is a nice game if you like atmospheric platformers. The controls were iffy when i played it, but iirc, they have changed it to make it more accessible to everyone.

I wonder if Endzone - A World Apart is a Steam key this time, since its the same shitty publisher who pulled a censor on contestation of their shitty explanation for gog key on a game i forgot the name, since i blacklisted them all.

All the games are Steam keys.

Just as useless as a uplay code.

Yes, that's the one. I forgot it's name cause i blacklisted everything from the publisher.

In defense of the developer/publisher, that game did not sell enough games yet on Steam directly for them to generate enough Steam keys.

To prevent abuse, Steam does not allow you to generate 100K keys if you've only sold 100 copies on Steam.

Buying Fanatical bundles more frequently than Humble's...ehhh 2018-2019 Humble Bundle was fire

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, that's impressively weak, I don't even regret not getting $6 coupon. The only game I'm interested in is Lacuna, and I already own it. Maneater must be a lot of fun, but my tripophobia makes me unable to look at sharks (their gills are way too expressive). Weird, I know.

Edit: actually, TOHU looks right up my alley, the game has somehow slipped under my radar. Will try to win it.

Man i miss the times when humble monthly/choice was all about indie games. I have absolutely zero interest in these "headliners" but the indies look pretty fun. Not what i expected or hoped to see this month but all in all this is looking like a pretty solid mixed bag of games, might bite this month.

Fascinating. Clearly I am not the target audience on this one, as I haven't heard of a single one. Most of them are already Ignored on Steam, so I guess I ran into them at some point.

The only game that looks interesting to me is TOHU. Easy pause.

Very kind of you! But I'll just feel self-imposed pressure to play it / guilt if I don't. It's much better in this case to trade for it and have it languish in my alt's backlog...

But again, thank you...and wonderful cat avatar. :D

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Why does trading for games put them in your alt's backlog?
What's the system? :o

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Heh...it depends on the game. It's a complicated calculation. Not to mention that I have three alts if you include both of my kids' accounts.
TBH, this particular game might go in my main's backlog.

One of the factors is if I just want to play the game casually and not worry about achievements. Those will tend to go in one of the alt's accounts.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So like, the alt is a family sharing thing so that your kids could also play without disturbing Your Holy Library?
(my current guesstimate...)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yep, that is another factor. All four libraries have family sharing enabled.
This would be more important if my kids actually played Steam games. They only have eyes for Roblox.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Then tell me, why feed the alt and not the main?
There's enough tools both inside Steam ("collections") and on third party places to sort your games otherwise, no?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Like I said, if I just want to play the game casually and not worry about achievements, I put it on my alt.
If it's a game with ridiculous achievements that I'll never eclipse 30% on, for example, it will go on my alt.
Some games that I think one of my kids might enjoy someday, I'll put on that kid's account.
And I put some games on my alt just to have it in a "neutral" place that all of us can access without "occupying" our account. But that reason at this point is pretty weak since I barely even play Steam games, let alone my kids.
And actually, some games I know I'll never play, but I just like to have in a library because they seem decent. Those might go on an alt as well.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So rather than famshare-play you actually switch to the alt (hopefully with registry account swap and not logout / login) to play those games, since you seem to want to have the achievements separate?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If I want to play a game on any of the alts (including my kids' accounts), I logout and log in. Famshare is available if the kids, who don't currently use Steam, ever want to access a game on the "family alt" from their own account.
But I play games on my alt (or kids' accounts) even less often than I play on my main, the latter of which has been three games since August. But I'm not familiar with "registry account swap". A little Googling suggests that you mean this?

I haven't tried https://gaming.stackexchange.com/a/389335 software solutions

I meant something like https://playnite.link/forum/thread-165.html or https://github.com/Luromed/Steam-Account-Changer

Or just having this bookmarked in RegEdit and typing account names by hand into AutoLoginUser:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam

Basically if you quit Steam after having used 'remember password' and then:
change the user name in the registry, use another account, and put the previous one back into the registry,
you don't lose your machine auth, which means you can start Steam again without fighting with passwords or 2FA

(Since this is the same as the remember password checkbox, if you never use the account you'll still have to enter the PW and go through 2FA after months of inactivity for that account on your device.)

Interesting. If I get to a point where I need to change accounts regularly, I may give these a look.

It's my last month of $6 but it definitely seems worth $6 to me. Maneater has been high up on my wishlist. Lacuna and TOHU look like I would enjoy them. Not into the multiplayer games. The rest look decent.
