The only online digital service is the official digital service on the system, which uses Nintendo points, and has WiiWare and Virtual Console games, no regular retail games.

ebay, maybe the wii store through the wii, btw amazon does international, just have to have sellers who are willing to ship out there(or depending on which country your in.. go to the amazon page for your region)

He would need to consider region locking as well. That is a problem for Wii unless he is willing to play with the OS.

NTSC-U (North America, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines)
PAL (Europe and Oceania)
NTSC-J (Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan
South Korea

Not very difficult

Take a look on the cover art of your game. By the Nintendo logo, it will mention it, at least it does on all my PAL cases.

I can't remember quite where it is, but somewhere in the options you'll find your firmware number and it'll indicate which region. U for NTSC-U, P for PAL and J for NTSC-J, not sure what South Korea is.

amazon is not really a way to buy games for me, the shipping service of my country sucks and there isnt an airport near of my city :/

Edit: neither ebay, shipping would take about a month

Wait, Amazon isn't just for USA, they service other countries as well. Unless your country isn't one of the others or you can't find the games for your region.

For digital copies of games they are US only. I'm in Australia and when I tried a few weeks back it said that digital copies are restricted to the US only.

Ouch, there's probably red tape on Amazon's end, they wouldn't throw away a chance to make more money. But neither OP nor I said anything about digital copies. Though he did mention in a comment that shipping is terrible so it pretty much means that this is a no-go either way.

editing the first post, i meant digital games :P i can buy digital games on amazon and download them (i have bought some steam keys from there), but if it includes shipping, i cant.

As said before, the only way to (legally) download games for Wii is on the Wii Shop Channel, with Nintendo Points, but there's tons of other pages like amazon for other countries too. Not sure how it is in Uruguay though.

thanks for your answers! another question: if my wii is "unlocked" (able to play pirated games, i bought it used ._.), am i able to play original games online without problems or can that lead me to any kind of ban?

Yes, some may ask you to update in which you'll have to find a way around that.

Depends on what version. You might be able to get away without updates which would wipe the unofficial software. Not aware of system banning with Wii though.

another question: is it possible have internet without wifi? "wired internet" (dont know how to say it in english)

I think a wired adapter was released (would check, but the flatmate is torrenting some anime and that pretty much disables access to most sites when it happens for some reason), but even if I am correct, it would be extra hardware to find and purchase.

You want a Wii LAN adapter. Here's an article about setting it up.

well, seems like i updated it and seems ok.

now, last question, where can i buy wii points online? is it possible directly from the console? (with a credit card or paypal)

Yeah, you can buy points directly on the console using a credit card (not paypal, I think). Just go to the Wii Shop and click a button that says "Add Wii Points." Here's is a page on Nintendo's website that says everything about how to get points and buy stuff with them.
(That's a U.S. site, so there might be some slight differences on your Wii.)

There are no digital retail games for the Wii (considering the Wii's microscopic internal memory.) However, a good digital game you should try out on the Wii is La-Mulana. :3
