About

Why is this list here? To raise awareness! Some games give something, or everything that doesn't go to Valve, to charity. And here's a list of these games. Click on the titles to go to their store pages. This guide will be updated when we find new ones.

The Steam group Charity Games takes care of this official list, as well as sharing it and supporting the games and their awesome developers. We would like to thank every developer that made a "charity game".

Official list on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=810750964

Steam games

9.03m
All royalties (as of 19/12/2013) are donated to charity. Half of all received Space Budgie royalties go to Aid For Japan, a charity that helps children who lost their parents in the tsunami. The other half goes to Redr, a charity that helps in disaster scenarios.

Afterlife Empire
Most of the profits from the game will be given to charity to prevent colon cancer and some others. See the game store for a visual chart. However, there are some uncertainties in the discussions.

Chernobyl VR Project
An unkown part of the proceeds from the sales of the Chernobyl VR Project go to foundations helping the victims of the disaster. Selection happens in association with the Polish-Ukrainian Open Dialog Foundation.

Child Phobia: Nightcoming Fears
Some amount of profit will be transferred to orphanage in Belarus, according to various articles. The devs will wait to put it on the store page until they've made some money for the orphanage. Let's wait and see!

Chime
Produced for video game charity initiative OneBigGame. From June 2010, dev Zoe Mode will continue to donate a proportion of its royalties (equivalent to 5% of purchase price) for sales of the Steam version. OneBigGame always aims to donate a minimum of 80% of all donations to its charity partners Save the Children and the Starlight Children's foundation.

Corona MotorSport
According to the Greenlight page, "10% of all profits will go to Elevation Church." A church, not a cause. Nothing found on store page.

Fire With Fire Tower Attack and Defense (FREE)
Fire With Fire hopes to inspire environmental conscience and raise awareness through a free game!

HELP: THE GAME
A bundle of 12 games. 100% for charity: War Child receives all income after a nominal platform distribution fee.

Iron Fish
For every copy sold, 50 pence will be donated to the charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation.

Max, an Autistic Journey
The developer will be donating a portion of proceeds from game sales to the Miriam Foundation, a charitable organization that helps people with autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities lead fulfilling lives.

Mr.President!
1% of the proceeds are donated to the Cancer Research Institute and Child's Play. (Source: asked dev via Twitter.)

Nature Defenders
A percentage is donated to ANARAP Reforestando Panamá, empowering forest (re-)growth. Around 5-7%, but it may vary on the sales. Talked with the developer, and it's also on their Greenlight page.

NotGTAV
100% of the profits from this game go to young people’s charity Peer Productions.

Rot Gut
10% of every purchase goes to charity; the dev then gives the amount once in three months. They also say in this thread that they prefer the organization to be anonymous. Don't worry, I talked with the dev and it's a real one. Let's just respect their privacy.

Slow Down, Bull
50% of Insomniac's net proceeds from Slow Down, Bull (at least 30% of the purchase price) goes to Starlight Children's Foundation.

Synonymy
All profit made goes to educational, academic or literary charities. Half of these funds go to support the Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science.

Super Cat Herding (VOTE WHICH CHARITY!)
$1 of each purchase goes to an animal-focused charity. You can still vote which one; click here to choose your preference.

The Purring Quest
A (currently unknown) purrrcentage of the profits go to various animal welfare associations.

Trump Simulator VR
Profits will go to support the refugee crisis at Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS). According to the Greenlight page, it's actually 50%.

Ukrainian Ninja
According to the Greenlight page, Dragon Fire Games will donate 10% of every game sold to Ukraine Charity.

Water Heroes: A Game for Change
50% is directly donated to ClearWater. They help the people of Ecuador that are fighting for drinking water. The game will be available on March 1st.

What Would You Do?
Half of the proceeds will go to the Toronto Humane Society and the Humane Society of Durham Region.
