Was Googling a bit and noticed this (removed link).

The author claims he made it as a joke and that "You can just not comment and nobody will really give a fuck."

I personally feel it's a bit rude and awfully impersonal, even though it gives the "thanks" that everyone wants for their giveaways. But then again, entrants aren't required to have any participation other than clicking Enter to Win. I can see why Private and Group giveaways are so much more popular.

EDIT: I've removed the link because I realized I don't want to support this behavior.

I lol'd. It's a hot-button issue around here. I actually find it amusing. Politics? Meh. Religion? No one cares. Thanking on giveaways? It's fucking Holy War. It's so weird. I love it.

Well this is in part because politics and religion are not allowed as discussion topics on this forum.

I suspect you could pretty damn easily brew a flame war here just by posting a thread either praising or dissing the Tea Party movement, for example.

I actually believe a thank you button is a bad idea. If people can't bother to actually thank someone for a giveaway without being assisted, it is their problem.

guys, I missed it!
What was happening?
Is it a button that auto-comments something like "Thx for the giveaway"?

It varies in what it says. I've seen "Great Giveaway, thanks" and just "Thanks." But I'm not gonna use it, I like to personalize my comments a bit more.

Well if the mod allows this, I would be happy to program a customize able one. But I for one do not like this kind of behavior.

Tons of threads and posts why this button is not good. :(
Also , keep Monu away from this thread. It's for everyone's safety!

I have decided to thank givers in a custom way.

Sure, you can imitate me, but it's different every time. You'd have to be a human to do it accurately.
