Thought I've only bought two pre order games, sherklock and goat simulator
still I have no regrets for sherlock, it was awesome

I've pre-ordered three games total, and I'm glad I did:
Modern Warfare 3 (great multiplayer, and received a COD4 copy for pre-ordering)
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (great multiplayer - it died after a few months, but it was quite fun)
& Orcs Must Die! (finished it twice, and it was a blast - I love tower defense games in general, but this one really hit home).

Although I have only pre-ordered BoI:RE I will say that it was a terrible experience, the game was wouldn't launch on day one and I am still having massive graphical errors like the rooms not loading floor and wall textures (and if anyone has a fix for that it would be nice, I have ss's on my account)
However this was a game I would have bought the day it came out anyway! I just pre-ordered because the loyalty discount and the TF2 hat

I've never preordered on Steam, but the best preorder I've ever done has been Kingdom Hearts 3D (best friggen game story ever imho)

cue talk about preorders being never worth it, overhype, yadda-yadda
I'm inclined to agree though, which is why I never preorder most of the time
just for discussion though, if you've ever preordered a game, out of all your preorders which one was the best and why? would make for an interesting topic to sieve out the diamonds from the grime
(and I already have an idea of what one of those diamonds might be ;) )

edit: wow! the amount of love for BoI: Rebirth (which, incidentally, is the game which i was thinking of) is quite overwhelming! :D
few other good picks here and there as well, i'll look into picking some of those up if i ain't got 'em
