cue talk about preorders being never worth it, overhype, yadda-yadda
I'm inclined to agree though, which is why I never preorder most of the time

just for discussion though, if you've ever preordered a game, out of all your preorders which one was the best and why? would make for an interesting topic to sieve out the diamonds from the grime

(and I already have an idea of what one of those diamonds might be ;) )

curses at his fingers accidentally hitting close button on the first thread

edit: wow! the amount of love for BoI: Rebirth (which, incidentally, is the game which i was thinking of) is quite overwhelming! :D
few other good picks here and there as well, i'll look into picking some of those up if i ain't got 'em

Same here Torchlight 2 I got to play the closed beta. Clocked in 65 hours during the closed beta phase. Was a no brainer to pre-order it.Had no pre-order exclusives or anything and was and still is one of my favorite games to play.Tons of mods, a great solo experience if you prefer to game alone, and lots of love from the devs.

This.

And most disappointing preorder, in my case, was Diablo 3. I don't think I will ever preorder a game again.

Same here. Only pre-order I ever got and was not disappointed, even though I stopped playing a while ago.

Dark Souls 2 ! Preordered on Amazon, got delivered 2 days earlier than expected, plus they lowered the price because at some point the game was a bit cheaper. Also the Steelbook of the Black Armour Edition is gorgeous.

Playing right after release was worth it, there's this feeling when you feel you're discovering the world at the same time as other players.

This game right here. One of the only games I've ever deemed worthy of pre-ordering. Was totally worth it to hop in the game as soon as it launched.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth!

No game ever came close to this one in "Pre-order" trust!

Other one that have my full trust like Isaac, is SPAZ 2. I'll thrown my money to them as soon as they allow me... ;)

I don't preorder as such, but the only Kickstarter game I finished (and enjoyed) was Broken Sword 5. That's not to say that it's the best Kickstarter game I backed, just that I didn't play the others yet (largely thanks to BS5 being available on Android).

Hard to say... I must choose two of them.

PS3: Yakuza 4

PC: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (PS Plus free title for PS4/PS Vita, yay for Sony for that)

Also I pre-ordered Torment: Tides of Numenera but we'll have to wait to see if it's as great as I hope it'll be.

Let's see:

  • Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. It was a great PC port, and a hell of a lot of fun
  • Dark Souls (PC Version). Sure the PC port was, let's say lacking, but the game was still so damn good on it's own it was worth looking past it's issues
  • Dark Souls 2 (PC Version). Like Dark Souls 1, but with a much better port and worse level design.
  • Deadly Premonition (PC Version). God awful port, was in a bundle within a month or two after release, and it still is one of my favorite pre-orders.
  • Shovel Knight. Not much to say, it's an incredible game.
  • Half-Life. I'm an OG PC Gamer motha fucka.

Brutal Legend. The game turned out to be overrated by critics (that didn't help sales, though), but I've sold tf2 promo items for a little more than game's price.

Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition
I didn't get that much though. It crashed at launch and I had to wait a year for a working patch. Nevertheless, the game is incredible. But I should had waited
until it was released first. I preordered to support the developers.

To be honest, it was very well optimised for my system. Which is part of the reason I was happy I pre-ordered it :P

I am not sure I can say which one was the best (since I usually preorder games I think I will like anyway) but taking into account how much I played them and if I played them as soon as they were available, I have to say WoW expansions over the years. Had to level up fast :P

also personal opinion, some people may only pre-order the call of duty games so that might be the case here, I for one, did like Ghosts, its not the best game I personally have pre-ordered but its not the worst either.

If not the worst, is one of them. Since MW2 the only COD I can say that really worth is Advanced Warfare.
The only thing that made me play BO and BO2 was the zombie mod.

For me, Ghosts sucked balls. Even Wolfteam is better tbh. When I first saw that the recommended graphics settings were at 240p and very low details, I had a bad impression. This got worse the longer I played it :/ So, never CoD again- whoever is the dev.
