Congrats on reaching a dozen years on SG. This is a real milestone and i hope the time you have spent here has brought you more joy and positivity than you hoped for. I hope the next dozen are even better :-)

thank you for the train!
a motivating quote i have saved on my pc:
What a good day to be proud of all the progress I've made.
not exactly sure if it fits, but i like thinking about it when i'm feeling down. looking back at all the positive things i've done or that have happened, sometimes helps lift the depression cloud.
have a great week also, and happy early birthday!

Aussies here, so midwinter. Wife works in family daycare, so we like to wait til school goes back (school holidays are a busier period for daycare educations).
We're headed to a mountain about 3 1/2 hours away, called Bunya Mountain. It's covered in walking trails and forested areas, but some of the summit has been cleared off for accommodation. We're in the subtropics, so no snow, but often gets down to 0C in the middle of the night this time of year.
Only the second time away form the dogs, first was a weekend away, so we had a friend stay over to feed and keep them and the cats company, this time we're away for a week, so we had to kennel them. Hotel is a nice word for it, it's more like the city pound, with concrete floors and some wood slats for them to sleep on, with a small fenced run.A culture shock for them, who are more indoor dogs, used to sleeping on my bed or the couch. Just hope they don't get too bored, lonely or stir-crazy.

Wow, that sounds amazing !
Is it better to do trekking during the winter period ? I heard there's minimum bugs since most are hibernating ?
I hope your dogs are okay and get used to the "hotel" eep, sounds like you spoil them quite a fair bit at home haha

It's not as cold as it was last time we were here, in 2022, but it's promising to get down to 0-1C the next new nights.
I just love the cool, as I melt in the heat lol. Yeah, very different atmosphere here in the cold and I imagine it would keep most the insects away, hopefully. Haven't been up in the summer, so not sure how the wildlife differs. We've had wallabies, bush turkeys, sulfur crested cockatoos, galahs, currawongs, rosellas, kookaburras and red-browed finches so far.
They are definitely spoilt; they're not used to living tough lol

hahaha, that's way too cold for me...
maybe i'm used to heat since i'm living in tropical weather + rain.
However, that still sounds pretty awesome with all the animals you just mentioned !
Your poor dogs haha, time for them to toughen up, hopefully they dont pick up any bad habits there.
Have a good and safe trip, enjoy yourselves !!! :)

Hey everyone!
As of this year, I’ve officially spent 12 years on this site - the irony being I’ve pretty much given my youth to it too! Over the years, I’ve participated in countless community giveaways, puZzles, and events... but strangely, I’ve never actually hosted one myself.
With my birthday coming up Soon, I thought - why not finally give back to the community that’s given me so much joy, entertainment, and brain-stretching moments?
So here it is, a small puzzle community train (available for LV3+), as a little token of appreciation and celebration. I hope it brings a smile, a bit of fun, or maybe even a good challenge.
Also, wishing everyone here a really great week ahead !
And to make this thread extra special, let’s fill it with positive thoughts or quotes - anything uplifting, motivating, or just plain wholesome.
I’ll start:
"Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn."
Looking forward to hearing yours and hope you guys have fun solving this puzzle.
