My animated gif forum avatar profile doesnt move help!!

I have tried uploading a .gif image onto my avatar but after uploading the image always turns out to be a .jpg image and it doesn't move.

i have seen some users with .gif images as their avatar/profile so i know its possible.

I save the gif image in my pc and its moving but when i put it to my avatar in forum it doesnt move its like an image only

Any advice or help? im noob :-)

Try prodding it, make sure it's dead.

make an animated jpg (change a gif's extension to jpg before uploading)
